Steemit is not a place for creativity.

So this post is not meant to criticise anyone or Steemit, yet it is a sad reality that creative writers are not flourishing on Steemit.
I enjoy reading poetry on Steemit, mainly for my love of writing an poetry but also to support my fellow poets, because I know how hard it can be to pour my heart into a poem and receive like ten upvotes at most.
I started realising that poems aren't doing as well on Steemit within my first week as part of the community. I would look at the trending or hot posts and see many posts that are discussing the crypto currencies or Seemit itself or other business-like topics. Creative pieces were a vast minority. So I would go to the tags and look at trending or hot "poetry" tagged posts (which is mostly poetry or discussions of poetry) and I was very shocked to see the huge difference in upvotes and views.
All non-creative posts received SO MANY upvotes and the writers were making more than $100 per post, where as the most trending poems on Steemit would have $10 at most.
And I was shocked.
What has happened to our society? Why is art and creative writing no longer relative or something that people enjoy reading?
Why are creative writers making less money than people who only upload memes or shitposts that they have gotten from 9gag? I mean no disrespect but aren't the people who put in the time and the talent supposed to make the most money? And I mean, I'm not on Steemit to make money, I became a part of Steemit to be a part of a community that appreciates my work and with whom I can share my ideas and love. I joined so that I can read and enjoy other people's content,
I understand that people have different interests. I understand that people like to read different types of things. Yet my question stands: Why is there so little support on Steemit for artists and creative writers? Why are we getting so little love?
Once again, this post is not meant to offend anyone. I am merely saying that it is a shame that poetry and creative writing goes unnoticed and underappreciated.

I am artist and I was also dissapointed, that in trenging there are mostly posts about crypto, steemit istelf, or some chinese posts... but there are people who support minnows and artists, so I have got a feeling its going ok... I must say I am not interested in poetry even though I once wrote.. I like visual art more :)
I think that this situation is because there are many people who dont speak english very well, so they dont want to read difficult writings... most of them upvote and dont even open the post to see what is it about.. and if poetry doesnt earn more money, they will spend their upvote on some "hotter" post.. and many people also like nice pictures more, so they prefer paintings, drawings and so on...
@umperfectpoet - hey Daniel, Read your post in full , this is really a tought nut to crack for following reasons:
your a budding artiest for you sky is the limit , may be in few days ur single poem could fetch thousands of upvotes.....so please keep trying...... I m not an artist so this creative part is not for me.....
