Lack of Upvotes = Less Freeroll Poker Tournaments at Steem Poker League

in #steemit7 years ago

As much as we've tried to promote the Steem Poker League and garner support on Steemit, it appears that a universally legal Freeroll Poker site is not something that is desired by the majority of the Steemit Community.

However, I will provide a list of people and projects below that do garner a lot of support on a daily basis and take a large portion of the daily reward-pool, because they're just so deserving ... obviously.

1. Neds comments.

If you're not upvoting @ned's asininely sententious comments on a regular basis ... well you're just not Steemin' right folks!

I can't think of anyone or any project that needs more daily STEEM rewards than Ned. Even his self-upvotes of $3,000 and above aren't enough for this guy, so show him your support!

2. Affiliate Linkers

If you're not upvoting the latest Affiliate Linker posting links to their/other's Ponzi Scheme's ... well you're just not Steemin' right folks!

Ponzi schemes are the core of the cryptocurrency movement and if you're not in one you're obviously missing out. I try to wait a while before getting into one myself, to make sure it's a legit ponzi. Try to avoid the scam ponzi schemes, there aren't many, but they're the ones that pay off a little less than the legit ponzi's.

3. Vaporware

If you're not upvoting the latest Vaporware to hit Steemit you're doing the entire platform and the rest of us in the Community a royal disservice and ... well you're just not Steemin' right folks!

Vaporware is another core element in cryptocurrency, it's what gives us hope! When something sounds too good to be true, sure it is, but you still feel good, right? Who doesn't feel good knowing that if you praise the Vaporware Dev you will get upvotes from them on your comments, so in a way, they kind of did provide something of value to at least ...you.

4. Plagiarizers

Look, we all know typing words into a box is hard. Especially words that form some sort of logical thought process that others can follow, use this post as an example of that daily struggle we all face.

Now, I'm sure we can all agree that it would be much better if we just cut out all of the bad original articles and focused all of our upvotes on the copypasta plagiarized articles that have already been proven to be worthy of praise on other websites. It's just common sense people. If you're not upvoting plagiarizers ... well you're just not Steemin' right folks!

Conclusion

If you're trying to run a legitimate project on Steemit ... well you're just not Steemin' right folks!

Notice

The SPL has removed all Freeroll games that were playing Monday - Wednesday due to lack of support from the Steemit Community.

Sort:

I haven't played on SPL in a while because I lost my password. Is there any way to reset the pass from the website? Btw, I have placed you on my auto-upvote list.

What is your username on Lucksacks?

Same as the one on Steemit.

Sent + you might want to update that password to make it a little more secure. ;)

I just signed up for Steem and one of the first things I did was to see what sort of poker group(s) exist. It's disappointing that I seem to have missed out on the fun. The level of sarcasm (and to be fair, complaining) let's me know that I was at least in the right place :)

We need support from the community. There is no question in my mind that SPL is one of the best, if not the best, community in the crypto world. It wouldnt take much to keep it rolling with strength. The whales and influential people around here need to step up. Ned, Sneak, all of Stinc, and all whales should be less worried about the self votes and more about this legit community. If even people like me, who struggles to pay the bills, doesn't upvote one self even a little bit. Then why is this so hard for the people who are already rich and supporting them selves?

So it's not exactly a "lack of upvotes" that's causing the issue. It's the lack of "valuable" upvotes. Most of the posts about the Freerolls are collecting 70+ votes. That's not a lack of participation. That's just a lack of value.

Anyway, I understand the idea that you're not trying to run so far into the negative in a business venture. You've gotta b doing OK with the rake on the new buy-in tournaments at least?

Most of those tournaments, while potentially suggested by another player, don't seem to be supported in any way by those players. What I mean by that is the tournaments are self-funded based on the buy-ins / minimum number of players that are required for the tournaments to begin.

Anyway, I understand that there are more than just the cost of the 30 SBD freerolls involved in keeping the tournaments going. There are server and other back-end costs as well. Would it keep people more involved if the freerolls are every-other day?

Also, I'm biased, but I prefer the weekday tournaments than the Weekend Tournaments (and I'd prefer a later start time by about an hour on the weekdays - It's challenging to start a tournament at 6:00 PM EST during a weekday; 7:00 PM would be preferred).

In addition, I'm biased in that I would prefer a faster progression through the blinds. Maybe with a couple of minor tweaks we'd be able to get more community participation and upvotes?

Have you considered lowering the payouts to 20 SBD from 30 SBD? Or modifying the payout structures so a 50 person tournament pays fewer than 19 winners (as an example)?

It's the lack of "valuable" upvotes

Correct.

You've gotta b doing OK with the rake on the new buy-in tournaments at least?

There is no rake account, it simply reduces the payouts.

Have you considered lowering the payouts to 20 SBD from 30 SBD?

We did that last week on the tourneys we ended up canceling this week.

Or modifying the payout structures so a 50 person tournament pays fewer than 19 winners (as an example)?

We had this setup in place until recently. Players seem to prefer the new larger payout structure and it gives more people chips for buyin games.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions!

I'll donate 10SBD for a freeroll tomorrow, check your wallet in the morning @tuck-fheman

Please come into chat and DM me with the specifics you want on the tourney. If you like a current one, let me know which one and we can just clone it. Thanks!

I tell everyone the @spl is the best thing going on steemit. It's not just the card games, which are tremendous fun, it's the community we are building. The majority of people I interact with and support here are people I met through the @spl.

Thank you Tuck, Beth, BigP and everyone else who puts in all the time, effort, and money to support our community. Hopefully we can get past this speed bump and grow larger going forward.

Been a day of investment losses. Stock market plummet, crypto-market falling hard and now free-roll loss because just not getting votes that carry the power needed to cover the prize. What a bummer that up-votes have not been able to keep up with the pay outs. Its been disappointing to see the value of a 100% vote fall I guess as the value of steem does. Hopefully all this will change in the near future and we will all find our way back to flush. Thanks for all the work you do keeping this going. I hate to suggest because mean even more work but I would be happy to vote more posts per game even if it was back to back with same text to introduce the game and a results post. Not sure if 3 posts per game would be enough but guessing it would help. Have you considered joining steemfollower? I ask for somewhat selfish reason. I am obligated to vote 5 times a day there. Would be great if those votes could go to SPL. Would be knocking out 2 birds with one stone and really a much better spend of the power. I know there are other players here with same obligation.

Tuck, you have over 700 registered players and I think that you should go the route that several of the writing groups on steemit.com have done. That would be to require as a condition of being a member that one upvote @ 100% per day be committed to the site, I'm not quite sure how it is done, but I know I had to go set up an account at steemvoter and then issue a vote for the writing group I belong to to use, which the group uses to upvote their daily curation posting.
I will be the first to admit that I don't always get on and check my feed so I miss votes, and I also use a slider that scales my vote and I will be damned if I didn't vote this at 30% for not paying fucking attention to what I was doing. I don't have a lot of voting power, but every nickle and dime would add up if 700 votes a day were hitting the SPL instead of the hit and miss that is currently the situation.

This is sad, and I just found the SPL a little over a week ago. I am kinda new to the whole Steemit thing as well.

I up voted every post I see.. the price doesn't change... I think I need more steem power? I will have to look into how to properly steemit in the near future.

This breaks my heart. But I totally understand it.

Lets hope for better days to come, once the market gets out of this hole, things might pick up for everyone around here.

Fingers crossed!
