We all make mistakes in life one way or the other and once such mistake is done, we have no choice but to pay for it. Today’s post is majorly going to talk about some silly but major mistakes that we find ourselves making on a daily basis.
Below are 9 Mistakes That Are Common On Steemit
1. Begging Others to Check Out Your Posts or to Follow You
Asking others to check out your posts is a good method of post promotion especially if one is confident that the write up is exceptional, but constantly disturbing them is what is wrong. If you constantly ask a particular set of people to view your post every time, they will eventually get tired and quit responding to your messages.
Instead of planning ways to spam people with your post links, why don’t you just sit down and plan a well written post and I can assure you that the right audience will see it.
2. Voting Only On Top Trending Posts
I also found myself doing this until I discovered the advantages and effects of voting especially with a low Steem Power. For instance, you up vote a content with a SP worth just $0.03 while others are from $1- $10. At the end of the seven (7) days waiting period, the curator with the highest curation gets the top reward and it goes down like that. When it gets to your turn, you are simply left to manage the left overs (if there is any at all).
It is good to check out trending posts but don’t fully concentrate solely on them because we are just minnows and hardly get noticed until we have built ourselves. Instead of waiting for a whale to notice you, why don’t you just go through your feed and check out quality posts from new or upcoming authors, interact with them well and build a relationship so that you guys can grow together.
3. Concentrating On Just the Earning Part And Not The Investing Part.
Yes, steemit is mostly about earning but don’t forget that if you continue to fetch water from a tank with replacing it, that tank is bound to reduce at a time. Am not saying that steemit will die down anytime soon but what a saying is that we should try and invest on the steemit it platform with that, we are supporting @ned and the witnesses on steemit.
When I talk about investing, I mean buying Steem Power (SP). Let’s face it, if we have more and higher steem power, it is not affecting anybody more than the way it will affect the holder. The more Steem Power you have, the more influence you get and the more you grow in the community. It all comes back to you at the end.
4. Not Interacting Well
Steemit is mostly about bring everyone around the world together, so the essence of interacting with others cannot be over emphasized. Steemit is a community and a community is more or less like a family. Interacting with people in the community is one of the most important and vital activity. You can post and promote but without building a relationship with others, you won’t have a stable audience.
You can do all that by upvoting quality contests and leaving reasonable comments behind. @curie is doing an awesome work on that challenging people to interact with others on the platform.
5. Not Utilizing Steem.chat
The steem.chat was brought out for steemians who are ready to interact with others. It is actually separate from the steemit network but it is equally useful. So if you have any information, confused on anything or you want to report an issue, just jump right into steem.chat.
6. Not Being genuine
The steemit community is not only to make money but also to build yourself and discover your hidden talent. Don’t just pick something off the internet and drop it on steemit. Explore different things and ideas, you will be surprised at what you have to offer. So build yourself and be genuine.
7. Lack of Effort
Laziness has no space on steemit, so if you are lazy you better shake off that laziness or better still quit steemit. The title, pictures and first paragraph are what attracts people to continue reading your blog. If any of those three is of less standard, then your post would just be one of those that are being washed off and ignored.
As long as the cover of a book is catchy, everyone would want to read the inside of the book. So concentrate on those three and you would be amazed at the end.
P.S Don’t make them nice and the entire write up will be trash ooo. Just make them catchy so that people will read the rest.
8. Lack of Patience
Patience as they say is the greatest virtue. It is in a popular saying that a patient dog eats the fattest bone. Patience is what it takes to grow on steemit. Using myself as an example, I work my ass out in other to come out with a post and at the end, the results are not always encouraging. I keep believing that one day I will get there that’s why I haven’t given up on steemit.
So hold on and keep growing. Rome was not built in a day.
9. Not Using the Right Tags
Tags are used to help navigate people to what they are searching for on steemit. So with the right and appropriate tags, you can actually get the right audience.
