RE: WORD CHOICE: THE UNDERVALUED ASSET, HOW YOU COMMUNICATE MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE/ LANGUAGE BARRIERS
Great post, and highly undervoted. You shared a lot about Hawaii and its culture that I was not aware of at all.
- "Everyone is a foreigner in Hawaii." It's good that everyone is extra polite to each other to ensure they don't offend.
- Racism and stereotypes are all in jest. Amazing.
- I've heard that Spam (the meat) was popular in Hawaii but I wasn't sure it was as widespread or beloved as you said.
- I've never heard of Pidgin before, ever. Very interesting.
- Your analysis on the language barrier is very helpful and insightful. I will try to be clearer when giving guidance.
Superb work. I'll remember this when I eventually travel to Hawaii. Keep it up!
Hey there @trending! Thank you for taking the time out to read through my post! In a lot of ways, I feel like the culmination of people here is similar to online presence. It would be easy to offend others if you are not careful, and it is unique that everyone treats others like people regardless of race.
Yeah, there's even a Spam festival here! I think the meat gained popularity here because it is a combination of things, just like everyone having mixed nationality. Pidgin is pretty cool, and in embracing, there have been theatrical performaces done in this language!
I'm happy that you'll take some consideration knowing that many people aren't trying to be annoying on purpose. Hope you'll be able to travel here soon c:
