Ned Scott about Steemit before and after break-in

Getcoins turned to the CEO and co-founder of the platform Steemit Ned Scott (Ned Scott) with questions about her recovery and further development.

Can you tell us what happened on 14 July, after hacking Steemit? What lessons have you learned from this?

The first lesson we learned was the necessity of using open source. Because a hacker could find a vulnerability that an attacker could obtain a significant amount. Another lesson is that certain restrictions on withdrawals — a very important aspect of protection. Steemit recently added account recovery, thanks to which it will be possible to return your account if it is compromised, without losing Steem.

When you create Steem, You collaborated with Daniel Larimer (Daniel Larimer). How you met and started working together?

Daniel had been in bitcoin since 2009. I stumbled upon bitcoin in early 2013 and also became aware of his ability... In 2015, I turned to Daniel, to determine where else you can apply this innovative blockchain technology. Later, our talks escalated into this project. In January, the concept was modified and developed further, when we finally realized that this technology can greatly enhance social media.

Can you tell us more about the blockchain Steem? Why is it special?

What is the next step Steemit after the beta, the first payment and the introduction of open source? What do You plan to improve further in Steemit?

In the near future we hope to introduce a number of changes. If this new technology is going to become a trend, it must support all the technical possibilities necessary for users, and some of the main aspects of the blockchain technology, including the management of private keys. We also plan to improve the education of users through a tutorial, FAQ, as well as introduce many features that made other websites successful, such as notifications on Facebook and Twitter.
