RE: Up-vote bots will be the death of Steemit, and here's a great example of why I believe it to be so:

Remember though, I don't hate all bots, just up-vote bots, because they don't actually read the content they are up-voting, which in my opinion does nothing to better the community.

I agree, but that's the reason why I find the one I discovered interesting and am going to play around with it for some time. This article from @ilyastarar explains it in depth. But let me give you a short summary of my findings: It's not a bot that gives the vote, but rather a bot that coordinates votes. People are giving their vote to the bot, which then places it if a corresponding bid exists. Since the votes are done using human accounts, it's likely that the people will check what they voted for and report abuse. In the end, you don't want your name on an upvote for shitty content, which is the incentive to report abuse. It's some sort of human-bot-hybrid. ^^

Another one I found to be interesting is a bot that votes for my favorite Steemians (the ones I've told it to vote for), using my own vote. It does that whenever the person creates a new post. I kind of like this idea, since I won't always have time to place my votes. For example, I could add you to the list, since you are a dedicated Steemian and I trust you to deliver quality content. Therefore the bot also places reasonable votes to people who other people thought would deserve it. With this one, it's still a human who chooses what to upvote, while the bot only executes it.

BTW: Awesome conversation, thanks! I really appreciate the fact that you interact and have discussions with your followers!

Hey, discussion and learning is what we are here for, but thanks for the compliment Sir.

As for them checking what they up-vote, I highly doubt it, because they are up-voting 100's if not 1,000's of posts per day automatically, so I very much doubt they are checking much of what they up-vote.

Good point you're making here. I was considering it from my perspective. If I gave my vote to this bot, I'd only allow it use my vote if I'm over 80% voting power or something. It would make 10 votes per day and most certainly I'd check them. But you just opened up the perspective that some people might use this on a much bigger scale. Keeping track and checking what was upvoted gets tricky if we're talking about 100 or 1000 of votes...
