Garage thoughts: Just me pondering about stuff

If I were a serious investor, would I invest into Steemit?

The short answer would be no.

Don't get me wrong. I've invested what I can from a currency perspective. I'm thinking more down the lines of if I had millions to invest whether I would or not.

Unfortunately, the way things stand right now, my answer would be no.

Why?

Looking at it from a health perspective, I don't believe the platform is as healthy as it should be. There is far too much abuse and bickering going on. There are some truly great Steemians out there but there are also those that really just Shit Smear the entire platform with their negative ways.

For me, when I joined, I thought it was primarily about growing and supporting communites, individuals and those that add value in their own special way. When the truth comes afore, it is an entirely different picture.

The reality is that most people simply try to enhance their own agenda aka enrich themselves. Sure, it's important for me as well investing time here to make it worth my while, however I'm referring to those that simply try to milk the system as much as they can.

I just wish people would realise what it looks like from the outside. Shit posts Trending just because of what you have in your wallet is hardly a reflection of what a good blogging site should be.

Therefore, if I were a serious investor, I wouldn't put my money here. Who knows, there might be another investor with a deeper pocket that will simply trample me because they can.

Sort:

I have a similar, but different take on it... "Same, Same, but different"
if you will :P

edit OK... so I started rambling a bit, and realised I feel really passionate about the topic... so I'm going to put my reply into an actual (somewhat lengthy) post on my own blog... assuming I get around to finishing it.

My 2 cents (summarised): = Nothing wrong with "playing the game"!

  1. I have no problem with the bickering and flag wars - happens in real life too.

  2. No problem with bots: Bots already aren't profitable all the time anymore, and just like Google Ads, only quality posts will eventually be using them. The guy with the deepest pockets has an advantage, but the guy with the best content makes the best ROI. Why do we tolerate shit TV ads for shit products, but moan about people with crappy blogs using bots to promote them?

  3. We should all be spending more time flagging/reporting! Check out @SteemFlagRewards and @SteemCleaners etc. if you feel you want to help but don't have "enough SP" to make much of a difference.

... and about another 2 pages of back and forth babbling :P

Yeah, that is a good perspective and I'll look forward to the next 2 pages :D

I must say that only being on the platform for a short while, I have only recently started to notice the bickering especially among some of the whales....abuse of power and all. However, I like to think they will wipe each other out without affecting us minnows too much. I think there is still space for the community-minded people out there!

Yeah @gholsa. I must agree with your view there. There is definitely still space for the community minded. It was just a bit of a rant, lol. These things get under my skin from time to time. It just reflects badly. Anyhow, thanks for the comment and support. Much appreciated :)

Blogging in 2008 was fun, many shared information and assisted each other, yes selling via affiliate links to keep online is essential.

Currently, IMHO many join with little blogging knowledge, learn ways to gain without adding value to the platform, which is very sad indeed.

All we can do is just keep on doing our thing hey :)
