It appears that Hawaii will be the first state to implement UBI (Universal Basic Income)
After living on the Big Island of Hawaii for a little over 4 years, it was obvious to my wife and I how much financial inequality existed in this state. There really seemed to be no middle class. I have always been on the bottom side of the wealth scale but always managed well enough; Hawaii was the hardest place I have ever chose to live financially.
So a couple of weeks ago I read an article talking about how Hawaii State Legislator Chris Lee was introducing House Concurrent Resolution 89. I thought what the heck is this. So off I went to read about it. Wow... I actually could not believe what I was reading. For many years I have been following the rabbit hole of a system the uppers had created and I had long perceived that there would be a day when automation would render us humans obsolete. It would seem that day may finally be upon us.
There are calculators out on the net these days that will give you an estimate of the chances of your job being automated and to be honest I have always found them a little scary. There was a study out of Oxford University first published back in 2013 that brought us this Job replacement calculator (just copy and paste in google if you like).
I will not try to paraphrase the house bill instead I will link it below for you to read yourself.

This is the start of what will become the future of our world and I feel it is important for people to be aware of it. If you are not familiar with UBI, you should take a good hard look at it.
Here is a little snippet from YouTube of our boy Elon Musk at the World Government Summit 2017 discussing the future. He addresses how job displacement from our technologies will cause the unemployed to have no income as well as losing purpose. He speaks of this as being one of the biggest problems we will face is the lack of purpose.
I have a theory that in our near future that UBI will be slowly put into place state by state and that platforms and applications like Steemit will become the "jobs" of tomorrow. The fact that automation is just around the corner is something we can no longer ignore. I would like to quote a couple exerts from H.C.R. 89, which by the way has passed both houses...
"a paradigm shift in policy will soon be necessary as automation, innovation, and disruption begin to rapidly worsen economic inequality by displacing significant numbers of jobs"
I found this next exert extremely interesting as it makes direct reference to Watson.
"WHEREAS, International Business Machines Corporation's Watson computer can provide basic legal advice faster and with more accuracy than human attorneys and is helping to diagnose cancer four times more accurately than human nurses"
This is to be taken seriously. It is time for the world to accept that most labor jobs will no longer be needed and that our future is dependent on this.
Don't take me wrong. I am not taking a side here, I am simply stating a fact. The future is upon us. Be aware.

This Robin Hood theory sounds good in principal but when put into practice it may have a negative effect. Taxing the job creators more will just kill more jobs and drive automation more as a cheaper alternative. Socialism is paid for by other peoples money. The problem of socialism is when the government runs out of other peoples money. You can take Venezula as current example.
I completely agree and Venezuela is in the process of adopting crypto's to help offset the horrible fluctuations in the devaluation of their dollar.
I don't know what the answer is but I can tell you that it is happening whether we like the idea of it or not.
My post is simply meant to present the facts that are before us. What a person does with it or how they perceive it is up to them.

It's hard to really take a side with this. On one hand, this might raise the price of everything cancelling out the UBI, but on the other, if the price of everything doesn't go up, wouldn't it be nice to be able to do the things you want without having to worry about making money for rent, food, water, heat, etc?
I don't think it would be an issue for making people lazy or anything. I get more "work" done when I'm not at work. If I could get that work done when I should be at work, I'd have a ton of free time to maybe put more time into things I like doing, but don't have the time to work at making money with it like drawing, music, woodworking, gardening, etc.
Yes I actually love the idea of UBI and I have lived on less for most of my life. I despise the inequality in wealth and would love to see balance. I do not think the price of goods will go up; down actually is my belief. With full automation comes mass production and very little labor costs making items more and more affordable. As I said, I have no side, this is just our future; period.

I think if the government implements a UBI, what will happen is that inflation will kick in to the point where whatever you are receiving as UBI will become practically worthless. A huge reason for the lack of the middle class now is inflation, and it's not accidental, but I digress.
With that said, the idea of a UBI is a huge part of the inspiration behind the VIVAconomy project, of which Tradeqwik is an integral component. We think there is a way to provide a UBI in a way that's decentralized and therefore not as subject to the typical elite games currently afoot. I hope you take a few moments to look into it, especially read the whitepaper.
In the mean time, have an upvote :)
I have tried to perceive every angle of this that I possibly could. It is hard to formulate an opinion on most things in life. I try to stay non-biased on all topics.
On a secondary note, I believe this is the year of hyper inflation. I also think that is the reason that Hawaii is moving towards this a little quicker than the rest of the world. It is very tourist dependent and without tourism comes a tank in their economy. Will the UBI bring relief from this?? No I don't believe it will. What I do believe is that it will make it easier for the minds of the masses to accept the reality of life when the dollar has no purchasing power; period. When states like Illinois, who are leveraged for 130 billion against state pensions, are unable to pay said pensions. When the people dependent on that pension to maintain their middle class lifestyle and make the payments on that AAA bonded mortgage forfeit on their loans. When the baby boomers suffer the financial hardships like so many low income families did in 07-08. When the reality of this massive fucking scheme called centralized banking finally comes to fruition...
Well sorry about that... I got on a little rant.
On a second, second note; I have not read your whitepaper yet but I had somewhat formulated and idea of how VIVAconomy project might work just from pieces I had put together in my short time on Steemit. I am heading over to read it now. Thank you once again for the upvote and keep on steemin!!

You might also take a look at some older posts by @williambanks where he talks about UBI and the VIVAconomy. You have to scroll down his blog page a ways, but they're well worth the read.
I hope Hawaii pulls through whatever lies ahead. I'd love to visit the state sometime because I hear it's beautiful.
