Challenge Surprise - Day 5 - A little story - How playing poker is similar to steemit!

in #steemit8 years ago

For today's challenge surprise I will share with you a little story about how playing poker is almost similar with posting on steemit. At least this is how I see it. But, first my challenge surprise photo:

Let's go back in time

A few years ago (10-12 years, maybe not few years) I have left Romania to go to Spain at work. I had a friend there that he told me he will help me to find a job and I could stay at his place how long as I need. After one week I started to work with another person from my town and all was good for two weeks until he started arguing with our boss for nothing.

The guy I was working with he had another job, and our work was to pain some big hall, six hours a day from 18:00 -24:00. It wasn't hard, but we got fired because he continues arguing with our boss.

Now, without a job I start playing poker online on Carbon Poker.com, maybe some of you know about this site.

I knew how to play 5 cards poker, and all I had to do is to learn the rules of Texas Holdem. It was hard at beginning because I didn't know a lot of things, I had no strategy and I played for 6 months freerolls and sit and goes until I earned my first dollar. After that, I learned more tricks and I had my own strategy. I started playing with real money and I did it pretty well, only that it took me to much time.

Back to Steemit

I joined steemit in July 2016 and being a beginner or a 'fish' I didn't know much, to be honest, I didn't know anything because I had no facebook, twitter or any kind of social media. I had only messenger to chat with a few friends.

Again, I didn't had any strategy what to post on steemit, when, how to get more attention from users and a lot of other things. What I did was to learn every day something new, and something that could help me to become better. I don't say that now I'm doing great, but I'm doing better and better every day. After 6 months, my account worth more than 600$ and I think is better than 1 dollar.

How poker is similar to steemit?

Poker:                                                                                                                                 Steemit:

- you have to learn every day to improve your skills                                          -here is the same

- you have to be patient to succeed                                                                       -here is the same

- you need to have a great strategy to be successful                                           -here is the same

- you are competing with other people                                                                 -here is the same

- you can do it for free and earn money                                                                -here is the same

- in long term, if you stick with your plan you will be a winner                       -here is the same

The only difference between poker and steemit is time. I left poker because of steemit to have more time for me and for the people around me. Time is more important than anything because, no matter how rich or how smart you are, you can't buy or make time!

With steemit you can make a lot of friends, learn a lot of great things, make money and still have time for you!

The steemit motivation!

I wish you a great time and feel free to leave a comment! See you around!

Interesting concept. What I enjoy most in Steemit is making friends like yourself!

I like that too! You and Ezzy are both great people! I wish you a great evening!
