How Women Can Succeed in Tech & Business
There is a lot of talk today about how women have been held back in business, and particularly in tech. Well, I wanted to look into this and find out what is really going on today. So, I asked three women who I admire greatly, and who are very successful in tech and business to join me for this interview.
My guests in this interview are Alla Driksne who is right here with us on Steemit as @allasyummyfood. She is originally from Latvia and went to England at age 14 not speaking English. She not only learned English but also worked hard to get into and graduate from the London School of Economics.
Lori Spivey did very well in science and math in high school, in spite of the opposition she had (listen to her story about this). She graduated from the University of Florida, worked with Proctor & Gamble, then went on to get her MBA from Harvard Business School. She worked for many years at Boston Consulting Group and now helps with entrepreneurial ventures and aid to Africa.
Gina Carr holds a Bachelors degree from Georgia Tech in Industrial Engineering and also earned her Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. She is known as the Tribe Builder and uses her expertise in tech and business to help her clients succeed in their businesses.
All three of them also worked very hard to get into well-known and prestigious universities in spite of the odds against them.
You are in for a real treat with this as you what these three women did. All of them came from families where they were the first-ever to attend a university. All of them worked hard and overcame obstacles and challenges.

Hey ex-Latvian nice to see you here, you have really grown in steemit and in life. It would be nice to chat with you some day, we have some common interests. I'm a self though chef too, I like what's going on on you profile. I have a discord server for Latvians in seemit, you can join here https://discord.gg/HDKFseP Čau uz tikšanos.
Glad to have you on board, Alla! Thank you for doing a great job as usual.
Nice post . Some people seem to be born with the motivation and drive to overcome barriers and forge the way.
I hear but and I think we have to create and sustain that drive. That is what I know each of those wonderful ladies has done.
Educate people about what is available to them as a profession. Young people are not always aware of different professions they can become involved in, and neither are the adults around them.
thanks sir for information you are right l think that any woman can achieve success not only men through working hard and hitting any wall she meeting thanks again @terrybrock
You bet. Thank you for your comment and glad you liked it.
nice post
an interesting interview, but what i like most is your way of talking,i like your English,it's so good,it was the main reason why i followed you in the first place.thank you for spotting a light on this subject and sharing it with us.
You are most kind @chatitsimo. I've been working at speaking English all my life but I still want to get better! I appreciate your kind words.
@terrybrock
But you know it is not only in business that women have been held back.
They are a host of many other ventures, including politics and to some aspect religion(catholicism)
I guess they can draw inspiration from women like @allasyummyfood and co
Are all three ladies above your close friends?@terrybroke
You are right about that @chiguy. Yes we draw inspiration from women people like @allasyummyfood - she is brilliant.
You asked about "close friends." Well, Gina is my life and business partner, so I'd say she's even MORE than a close friend. She's my best friend!
Alla and Lori are also friends and I'm honored to know them.
Thank you for your comment
You are welcome Sir.
You have got such a lovely company of cerebrals!
You should really read this article about SpaceX... everyone seems to be loving it I thought you might too #ProjectTransistor http://bit.ly/2tphgH6
i have a question actually i would be thankful if you answered me.How do you put pictures in you post that way? please if you could share with me the HTML code if possible.
Thank you for the question, @chatitsimo. Here's the actual code I use:
INSERT PICTURE HERE
INSERT TEXT FOR POST HERE
Then just change "left" to "right" and you can have the pictures balanced all the way down. Let me know how it works out for you.
Whoops! The code didn't come though just right. Let me try it again:
...
INSERT PICTURE HERE
...
INSERT TEXT FOR POST HERE
Note that I put three dots in front of the <div command. Remove them when you do your actual post.
Still didn't work! Ugh! I'll try something else
this is the first command you use< div class="pull-right" >
I've deliberately put some spaces in there that should be removed.
INSERT PICTURE HERE
< /div >
INSERT TEXT FOR POST HERE
thank you so much for the help @terrybrock
Awesome interview Terry, thank you. This subject has been on my heart lately. I am starting a coding Bootcamp on the 19th of this month to learn how to be a full stack developer, and I am planning on working in crypto and the blockchain. It is going to be a crazy 14 weeks of 15 hour days. Lissoning to this interview really encouraged me. Thank you to all of you.
Thank you SO much for that kind comment, @lifemovedbysteem. Good for you on getting into coding and I wish you the best.
