Untouched bodies of babies
Wrapped in the burnt bodies of their mothers
Newspapers print the last phone calls
from two Italian lovers

"Mum the flames are at the door......
.....I DON'T WANT TO DIE....
Then the screams are no more

For 24 hours
we watched the Grenfell pyre burn
As a witch cowered in her castle
Repeating "lessons will be learned"

Yellow helmets of heroes
Become melted and black
Exhausted and fearless
Despite the danger they went back

Now the death toll rises
As you took the cheaper cladding instead
Now you count the savings
And we'll count the dead

Through the fear of the flames
As the ashes fell to the floor
Human beings come together
And arose like a Phoenix once more

United they stood
As the tower lit the darkest of days
While our spineless cowardly leader
Hid behind the smoke from the blaze

Another bullshit inquiry
And 7 years waiting for your dictum
While the blame gets passed
To a suitable victim

As the tower crumbles into history
As the dust falls to the floor
As the newspapers move on
As she closes the Number 10 door

As the death toll climbs higher
As we see the names and the faces
As they pin badges on heroes
At some palatial places

As a son mourns for his family
As a daughter cries for her mother
As a child was thrown through the flames
We all had one another

Grenfell tower holds a silhouette
Of a system broken and rotten
To every soul that was lost.....
.....You will never be forgotten
