Prize Portal uses the rewards from posts to pay for prizes to be given away by random draw. The bigger it gets, and more rewards it takes in, the better the prizes can become. I feel like it has huge potential but has yet to really take off. First a prize is selected by myself, or one of my trusted users. Then it gets posted for steemians to vote if they want it in the prize pool or not.


Once enough revenue is obtained, a selection of prizes from the prize pool are entered into a Prize Battle and any steemian can use their steem power by comment vote to pick what they want to see in the next prize draw. The prize with the highest amount of steem power behind it is the prize to be drawn in the next draw.


Then a prize draw post is made, and steemians can enter for free once again by comment vote, there is a list of requirements, but they are easy to do. Users of bitshares can also buy extra entries from the bitshares market in the form of PPBITS for 0.25 SBD each. Unlike the free method an unlimited number of entries per user is allowed. Simply send any amount of PPBITS to the pp-bits bitshares account and each will count as a 1:1 entry into the draw.


When it is time for the draw to happen, I stream my desktop live to the TaskManager youtube channel, and use an online random thing picker to pick the winner. The winner has one week to submit their details and the prize is then shipped out. Prizes are available worldwide unless otherwise stated.


On top of that @prizeportal follows it's followers and votes on random content in it's feed, as steem power grows in the account this will become a greater reward for it's followers.


Right now prizes seem sparse because not enough votes come in to pay for prizes as fast as I would like. The income has to be there in order for prizes to be sent out. Once popularity picks up, prize draws could happen every few days, and prize selection will improve.
