Don't Lose Hope, Just Steemit and You'll Make It!
I haven't done a post to introduce myself, so I guess it's time to tell you a bit about who I am. I am a 40 year old divorced man, with two kids, Adam ,11 years, and Judy, 8 years. Although I am a Pediatrician, I have been mostly making my living through writing for the past 8 years or so. I know this might sound strange to you in a way or another, but I happen to be located in one of the poor parts of the world, where physicians aren't conveniently paid.
Writing was a hobby ever since I was a teenager, when I started writing poems to impress the girl I had a crush on in 8th grade! and then it outgrew me to be a job that helped me bring some bread back to the table to feed the kids, especially when outsourcing networks and freelancing websites were launched helping people like me, in poor parts of the world, get paid for their skills and knowledge. This started around 2008, back then I worked on Freelancer, Odesk, Elance, Guru.....etc, and was making a decent amount of money.
Then all my online career turned around, when I was introduced to bitcoin as early as 2010. For me, bitcoin was not only a currency but a new concept of decentralization that can change the world and sew a seed that can help the people of the world unite in a way or another. I began studying, experimenting and sharing ideas about the blockchain technology with other bitcoin enthusiasts and since 2012, I have been only writing about bitcoin and crypto in general. Not only have I made more money but also managed to find my niche.
But life isn't always "strawberries and orgasms", as I had to take down my website a couple of weeks ago, due to decline in ad revenuea, so I couldn't afford the expenses of keeping it up, especially that I wasn't working for any other publications. This is when I found out about Steemit and said to myself
"Why work for someone when I can publish my own content and still get paid for it?"
I decided to go for the idea and start working as a Steemit blogger. Things were awesome during the first 3-4 days on Steemit and I even managed to make more than 50 USD via a single post. This encouraged me even more to look for more ideas to blog about and to fine tune what I already started doing.
And then, there were those 7 long days, between the 10th and 16th of December, during which I failed to earn a single cent via any of my posts. I normally do around 4-5 posts per day, so during that horrible week I made zero earnings writing around 20 posts. I was a bit down but I didn't lose hope, until this has changed and I started making some earnings again via my posts today. This really made my day especially that I also found some interesting news that gave me another boost of self-esteem. Some of my written material about bitcoin was added as a reference to an article that was published in the Journal of Terrorism and Security Analysis, Syracuse University, New York. So, all this positive energy inspired me to write this post that can help those who might also be going through rough time in the beginning of their journey on Steemit.
As my account here on Steemit is less than a couple of weeks old, I might not be the right person to give advice, but I am sure that Steemit is the place where it really pays off to be patient and meticulous in picking up the topics to post about. If you don't earn any author rewards in the beginning, don't give up, keep on posting , just believe that you will be rewarded for your work and keep fine tuning your posts, while also engaging in conversations that get created in replies to your content.
Steemit is as free and diverse as life itself, so whatever your niche, area of expertise or hobby, you can make it here with everyone on Steemit.
If you are a doctor you could offer some consulting here on Steemit, I know others seem to be doing this already.

It is a fantastic community, the idea of steemit is neat but the people make it absolutely wonderful. Followed, upvoted and resteemed.
I agree the idea is great but that's not enough if the people weren't friendly and helpful the way they are here on Steemit.
