Minnow University // The Vision for 2018 //
The Idea
I started @minnowuniversity after seeing so many of the same questions being asked in MSP over and over again. I decided that we needed a central repository for great articles and how-guides on Steemit and all of its functions.
What Have You Done So Far
Well, it's been slower than I had hoped. Right around the time we launched, my job decided to get real busy, which left little time to work on minnowuniversity alongside the several other projects and tasks that I have on the platform.
We have our Discord up and running, and I have to give special thanks to @kubbyelizabeth and @crimsonclad, for holding down the fort in there. These two people are invaluable to the help they offer to not only myself, but to the Steemit platform. Thank you guys.
So.. The answer, what have you done?
We have several guides written and posted, and have collected quite a few that you can find in our Discord. Kubby and myself started Minnow University Radio at mspwaves.com, where we discuss the basics for new users.
2018
2018 will be a great year for us. I'm working on making instructional videos, Kubby and @isaria are writing guides for the platform, and we're talking with several other people to add value to the group and Steemit platform.
I'm still a Moderator at both PALnet and The Writer's Block, and I hope that I can convince some of my contacts and friends there to contribute to Minnow University. stares at @gmuxx
Minnow University is brought to you by witness @swelker101 with support from @isaria and @kubbyelizabeth to help new Steemit users understand the concepts and basics of Steemit and other STEEM blockchain platforms. We have working relationships with MSP at PALnet and The Writer's Block to help educate minnows on how to grow their accounts without resorting to spam or practices that may stunt their ability to flourish on the platform. Please join us at our discord server.
Might have to sign me up, there's so much I've forgotten or has changed that I'm like that stereotypical old guy trying to work a toaster with the tv remote, held backwards... with voice commands..
Bahahah, I doubt that very much! many people like that don’t even know how to turn on the computer. Yet here you are on a crypto based reward blogging site!
WOW what a amazing idea Im already following @minnowuniversity continue with that =)
Cool, I could certainly use something like this lol Steemit is quite different from other social networks, I think for it to scale up it'll have to be user friendly for people who dont understand cryptos, blockchain or programming, and just want to use it more as a social network. A collection of all the guides and advice would be pretty helpful!
We are working on all that. You could join our discord for more information too !!
A few people have mentioned Discord - I don;t know what that means or how to join lol
I'm not the best author, but from what I take you're looking at other authors to contribute? Are you looking for certain topics to be covered?
I'd like to help if so.
Yes, we are looking for members to share their knowledge. What would you like to write about? Join our discord and we can discuss more ideas.
Joined the discord.
Stares back, wiggles eyebrows
That's right Muxxy, lets get something together!
Have your people call my people and we'll sort something out
You guys are both my people and your people. This is working.
I'll be in touch
won't be in touch
I am the people on both sides. I've discussed it with myself and decided tomorrow at this time Muxxy and I will be getting together.
The people have agreed, don't be late!
There was a bunch of us this last year that tried something like this we made all kinds of posts to help newbies. I kind of wish Steemit would make it apart of the sign up process to watch a video and answer questions to get approved. Because if you look (it is why we decided to stop) there are a ton of posts out there just for helping newbies.
Well, if people are forced to watch or read anything they probably will just skip it or pretend to watch. I think people learn best by doing or making mistakes. I wish the FAQ page was visited more. However, It took me months after joining to even realize we had one. I think we need to all work together toward a similar mission to accomplish our goal. There are a ton of helpful post to help newbies, many i still have saved to review. There are some information that is still relevant, some has changed and with each new HF will continue to change. Our project will help new users with updated information while also referencing old information.
that is why I think they should also have to answer questions about what they watch so they can't just skip it. But think about all the spam that would reduce. I been trying to work with newbies then I have dolphin and whales undermine teaching moments when they use flags because of newbie comment spam, that they don't even know is wrong, because it works on other sites.
I think its a great idea, have you tried putting something together and presenting it?
I have and we mentioned it to Ned once hoping to see it implemented. Maybe one day it will be.
EVERYONE, please note that shane called me Kubby. This is very important to our success.
I shall correct my Mistake. THANK YOU Ms. Kooby
NOO EDITING THIS MASTERPIECE!
Thanks for the post dear.. It may help lots of new user like us... Thanks for the post
You are very welcome, check out our other post and let us know if you have any question or topic request
Wow! I'm glad to know that something like this exists here.
I started something similar called "the quora of steemit" @enolifetrades. but I didn't get enough support and coverage.
I wish you good luck in your project.
This is great! I wrote my first blog on here about how I am an over 50 old fogie trying to figure out a world of blockchain and cryptocurrency. It was a tough learning curve. You are right, some are just figuring out how to log in. lol I look forward to following and learning. Thank you from this newbie! Blessings
