Let Me Teach You Another Thing Or 2 About That "Simple Steemit Post Of Yours". (Untold Stuff)!!!
Let me teach you another thing or two about that "simple steemit post of yours".
What are other triggers, that can help your post earn more?
After all the effort you put into creating these posts, you want to earn something. In some cases and for many people, "earning" doesn't always have to be financial!
You may also want a level of interaction, friendship, new connections etc
You may at least want steemians to come around and create further beauty, in the comments of your posts etc
Some posts were designed from the very onset to "impart" and "earning" in this case, could be; "in the knowledge that you have imparted others!" You may relish that your audience acknowledge this, by means of their heartfelt comments, a resteem and in some cases, full-blown posts triggered by means of your own post etc
But did you know that on the flip side, all these seemingly-looking side-actions, can also very easily turn into financial rewards?
Yes, even that tiny upvote from redfishes, minnows, or not-very-powerful bots, that you may frown at for not having impact; all work together and can trigger a huge earning!
At the end of this post, i will help you imagine how all these things work but first, here is a little background:
Little Background
I have been here long enough and i am not talking "duration".
Some people can see and perceive things more quickly than others, not because they are better at "seeing" but perhaps because, they are "looking" more intently.
Most of the things i learned about steemit were not from the whitepaper. I did ask many questions but again, "it is about composing and posing just the right question"; which in itself is a special skill.
Over time, growing up; i developed my path even when it comes to understanding things. Even in very simple conversations, like those that we have in the discord DMs etc, my art of conversation is very unconventional.
Yes, i may get to the destination of our conversation, in a very short span of time, not only because of my understanding of life and humans but also because of my method of processing information.
I look more for underlying concepts and try to understand that.
I understood steemit really quickly, from the actual process of "steeming on" itself. For instance "bots"; it didn't take me time to know that they existed and upon knowing they existed; it didn't take me time to understand how curation (in all its dimensions) worked.
While many minnows like me, where busier figuring out why there should be bots in the first place; i was already looking at how bots worked, in relation to curation.
I do like to sift the good from the "not-so-good" especially when it comes to humans, but this applies even when i am dealing with life, issues and situation. So i was fast in pin-pointing that even though bots did some votes, there were always human parameters involved. I will pause here on the "bot issue".
I painted the above picture, so that you can grasp the later part of this post better!
Too, it didn't take me time to understand "steemit posts" and how they worked in relation to earning etc.
In the earlier days of steemit, there was a "4 post" daily limit, which i tried to exhaust at the time as i felt obligated to maximize possibilities, but after a period, "simple logic" in relation to the curation knowledge i had started to accrue, made me start to reduce my number of daily posts.
Many of the rules from the past, related to bots & post limitations, have changed due to several hardforks, but the principles still remain!
It got to a point in my earlier days on steemit, where even solely based on intuition, i could tell if a post would earn.
Overall, steem was as low as 7 cents at the time, so we valued every cent. Yes, we valued every comment, resteem and even every redfish vote.
Note: There weren't bot initiatives like minnowbots, boosters, upgoat, randowhale etc not even many discord servers!
Back To Today
My point is: whatever the case; whatever the hardfork; however, the number of bots; the principles are same:
We are in a community of reputable great minds; steemians; humans!
If we focus on the "human"; then every upvote, resteem, comment counts and when you expand your horizon just a bit, perhaps even the bots, spam comments etc count too because "humans" were involved!
Let's Play A Bit
Note: Even in my play, there is an element of "serious". Read between the lines. Apply principles as you read my stuff. Understand the underlying concepts. Forget the theory.
It is a known fact that not everyone may vote on posts manually. Some may have an list of who they auto-vote for, especially the busy ones and some may vote for valuable content using a bot or auto-vote service like curie, steemvoter or steemian based on his or her parameters.
Yes, some may code their own voter and add 120 parameters to it, so that this bot votes based on the preferences of the human etc
Now look at this scenario:
Your post has earned 0.57 cents and has had 200 upvotes and it frustrates you; and to add to your frustration, a comment from @arcange arrives, congratulating you for having had 50 comments to your post!
You still feel frustrated but you decide to take a nap! However, the next time, you look at your post, you see that it has got a 100 dollar earning on it and you wonder in bewilderment; "how could this have happened?"
Let's imagine!
"What if a certain whale decides to use engagement as one of the parameters for his auto-voting and decides, 'let me measure engagement, using @arcange's comment on a post as a trigger'!".
You see; moments ago, you weren't very happy, even though you were amassing 50 comments on your post because your earning said "0.57 cents".
Now did anybody ever tell me, that a scenario like the above exists? The simple answer is "NO".
But does it matter?
Hahaha, you have to present yourself every time, for you know not where opportunity lies. @surpassinggoogle
In the Philippines for instance, people ask me, why i am fully dressed, when i am just going to a store in the next street.
Well, where i am from, if i had the means; i dress gucci everytime because, i may need to sweep someone off their feet anytime, anyplace & vice versa!
I will leave you with just one scenario, to help you build on the ability to 'understand underlying concepts', when you read complex things, like whitepapers, steemit posts etc or even during the art of conversation!
Note: even with manual votes, there can be many parameters involved e.g i may have seen your post the first time and it may have been top-notch content but hahaha, "top-notch" isn't the only parameter for me because in reality anybody can create "top notch content", so i may let it slide; only to vote for it at a later time, because i saw it again, resteemed by maybe someone i know, or someone i like, or someone i look up to, or a redfish or a minnow.
Hahaha, statuses matter not to me, the human does!
I seem to speak for myself, but the logic & principle sticks; we are in a reputable community of great minds; steemians; HUMANS!
So here......
I do value every tiny upvote because, with steemit; "its an ecosystem" and every tiny thing can be a trigger! Yes, even though, you don't earn a dollar from the myriads of redfish upvotes, these votes still aid visibility (relevance algorithm). Did you know?
And you never know, who is following or copying the vote of that redfish!
The truth is anything on steemit can be a trigger, so value everything!
Yes, sometimes even that tiny-looking resteem from a minnow, can be what triggered that a whale upvote.
For instance, i vote on some posts, simply by visiting the resteems of a minnow or redfish account
Also remember this; many votes that happened on the outside (steemit.com) may have happened because some good Samaritan on the inside, has vouched for you; so it may not be your top-notch content afterall.
The thing is, you never know what the trigger would be, so why not present yourself.
Yes, some people may use "number of words" contained in a post as an additional parameter for their auto-votes, so why not "go big" when you post and "present yourself".
@curie may come around or someone who submits undervalued posts to @curie may come around, so why not "go big" and present yourself to these opportunities by means of your posts.
A whale may decide; "let me visit #philippines today, since i am off from work". When he arrives, will your posts be hotcake and ready?
Presence is key! Read this post by @tegoshei
Plus, your posts say alot about you! In my case, i am very gifted in that regarded, that i may get to know you perhaps, even more than you know yourself, just by reading your posts.
People ask me how that is and the answer is quite simple:
The state of your heart, the extent of your substance, are in the tiny excerpts of you that you weren't paying rapt attention to.
So if i was your boyfriend for instance, and i was aiming at reaching your heart; i won't be asking you: "do you fart loud?" hahaha, that is a very frontal, obvious question and you will be fully prepared before you answer!
My Curation Efforts
You will notice that i vote on the comment section alot and one of the reasons i do this, is in the whole story just above!
Ofcourse, ultimately, i do this type of comment-voting to promote unity, engagement, community etc but i also do it to teach! Yes, i want to teach even in my small way to value even the tiniest gifts.
Value that these are the best times on steemit & and stick around!
#philippines is really improving in the comment section and it is a joy to watch! I talk #philippines but reading between the lines and you will see that my posts and all of them, have an underlying general message for every human and ofcourse every steemian. Too, overall, what i try to speak of, is life and love.
"Life & Love applies everywhere, "steemit and beyond" and this is my gift to you, for now!
Your Boy Terry
My community effort is part of what i do as a steemit witness, thus, the use of the hashtag (witness category).

Good Day! @surpassinggoogle or Terry, wow another great post i can feel your feelings and emotions in this, actually I am not into reading long post but whenever i read your blogs i didnt realize that i already finished reading because it looks like im really talking with someone.
This post reminds me that it is important to build friendship, that it is better to give than to receive it reminded me to be a human being to help other minnows like me to build strong relationship then rewards will follow.
I admit that when the first time I came here on steemit earning money or rewards is what i want not reading if the post quality or not. Just thinking what post to make me earn more money disregarding communication but as time past by i started chatting with others not realizing i have many friends met in this community. I really like steemit because it is not toxic almost everyone is supporting you unlike other social media even though you pout your heart into your post they will bash you. Steemit community builds up my confidence, i think comments means alot to me more than upvotes because they will stay longer in my mind and remember the people that compliment and give some of their time just to remind you that your post is not just a waste of their time.
By the way it is my first month here on steemit on this very day :)But anyway i just want to thank you for your support here especially on the philippine community. If not for your helpful post i still chasing for rewards than building good relationships. I hope and pray that youll be more successful and will never change and stay just the way you are.
Awesomeness. I am glad you grasp the part involving my feelings and talking to people because that is indeed what i am doing

@surpassinggoogle are you a filipino?
Yes
Yes, so true!
nice picture...
Hey Terry, as always It bring lots of great things to ponder upon reading each and every one of your posts.
At first I must agree I went in on Steemit to earn cryptocurrency which I was hooked on, that was just my goal at the start of it all. As my steemit journey unfolded I learned a lot of things about this platform. It is not just about earnings. I realized that it offers more better than earning. First is learning, you can learn many things in every aspect there are tags to categorize this posts. By going on steemit everyday I learn something new everyday.
Next is the community, Steemit is really a great community even though there are many aspects that other people dont like about it. As you said sift the good from the bad that says it all. For me Steemit is perfect having connections, interactions, and knowing many people who have the same and different beliefs with you. Steemit really is an empowering platform.
Lastly Steemit is a way to share your talents to the world, helping others, especially sharing who you are, and a platform to express yourself.
Reading this post once again, made me think about steemit in different possible ways and perspectives. As always Thank you for your efforts, support, and inspiration for the steemit community keep up the great work you are doing. I continue to include you and your family in my prayers. God Bless and stay strong.
Thank you alot. You have a great attitude. So you will see things clearly fast. Thank you for visiting. Talk soonest. Thank you for prayers. Prayers work
This is not just an eye opener to all steemians out there but also a heart opener! I think it's the same in real life outside steemit. We really need to value small things because the smalls things are the ones which have greater value. Also, we should do things from the heart. Passion and compassion are very important. From the very beginning, my passion and love for blogging led me here. And it comes along that I'm able to help other people out there to pursue their passions while earning at the same time. I never encourage them to post for earnings but to post for they love what they do. I am just so blessed to be part of this community. I am able to discover myself little by little. I am able to meet wonderful people. Strangers being forged into friendships. The gift of friendship from the community is what really matters. Your posts gave me goosebumps from head to toe. I don't really know much about you just heard from tenured steemians but I salute you for your kindness and love for the Filipino community. Hope to interact with you more soon. :)
On point!
Thank you. @surpassinggoogle that simple comment of yours means a lot to me :)
Yes! CHAMP THE PAIN.....i'm glad to have understood in the first place that steemit is a social media so i came to meet and make new friends. All the earnings i so desire is to meet more wonderful people. These people are ever ready to lead you to greatness. Glad our prayers are reaching the Almighty. You will get stronger and stronger.
Yep switie
Hi @ surpassinggoogle wow what a post this is indeed because it has really touch me by letting me understand that my post represent my being as a person since Steemit Blockchain Network is a community of great human beings with great minds who are in a position to produce good content, also the importance of producing content that will impact other Steemians lives to greater heights rather than just wanting to earn from them hence Steemit is a place of creating relationships that will bond us together as Steemians and as a result of this we should value every single support from other fellow Steemians,Iastly you are a true inspiration mr Terry on this Blockchain Network and that is the reason i can't bypass without commenting on your post because it leaves me with a new idea on how to grow here on Steemit, yuo are such a blessing @surpassingGoogle especially to me as an individual thank you sir for your post and keep on posting great inspirational post like this one.
You grasped fully
Really great post thank you for your inspiration and content. You are indeed very observant
Very simple comment but on point and very technical
I really enjoyed reading this post, @surpassinggoogle. Lovely to see someone blowing their own "steemhorn" in such a constructive way. Throw a stone in a still pond and it will make ripples. You know you threw the stone. You can see how most of the ripples propagate. You can't see the impact that the ripples have on others in their path, or for that matter the impact the stone might have had on whatever was in the water underneath it! Maybe it stopped a big fish from eating a smaller fish. 😊😊
Sweetness. Exactly how life works
😊😊
One of my posts this week has $3.16 in payout, 47 upvotes and 82 comments. Since the average post has only 3 comments, I feel proud of my result. I hope you don't mind if I link it in case you have minnows on this post.
https://steemit.com/money/@fitinfun/make-money-blogging-on-steemit-top-tips-and-checklist-for-better-results
I can feel happy with that result since the post is to help minnows. I have been promoting it non-stop to minnows everywhere. I give about 15 tips to help new people make more financial reward when they first get here and I'm really proud of it.
I think in the future I will try not to make such a big post though. But I wanted to make this as comprehensive as I could.
But it certainly is daunting here. I make much more from commenting than I do from posting. So I only post a few times a week and comment at least 50 times a day. Such an interesting ride here at steemit.
Yes, it is an interesting ride but i tell you, you are so on the right track already! You can also feel free here when it comes to links etc time will come when your posts will earn but it is indeed a ride, so it is one to be explored and enjoyed
Thank you so much for the upvotes and your support! You have no idea how much this means to me. I think you are my steemit guardian angel :)
Yes, I'm sure of your words and I'm on the right track too. Thank you for your support and God bless you @surpassinggoogle!
I am! I do really like it here and see a lot of possibilities :)
I was measuring success here initially with the dollar amount each post makes. This was the orientation at work, and the most logical way to measure for someone who does not know much about the community is the monetary reward. This is powerful in a way that this talks about something that you would have only learned by experience. This will save a lot of newbies pain and frustration of having to go through the ups and downs. I mean the ride will most probably be with the same ups and downs, but less the frustration; thus becomes more enjoyable.
Reward here comes in many forms alright. I had a post that earned $0.07 recently, that same post was translated to Chinese by @ ygern and made over $200. I had a post that got acknowledged by @steemiteducation, while it did not make a lot in terms monetary reward; the acknowledgement is reward in itself.
I still think I have a lot to learn, and because of that I read posts from people like you. I also recently came across @natureofbeing who likes sharing deeper insights on steemit and life in general more than just the how-to. You always talk about the "underlying concepts" and to be honest I don't always get it. I think I am getting it more frequently than not compared to when I was just starting to read your works. It is the same as my journey in steemit. I came here feeling confident (almost arrogant) taking into account what I have achieved in other aspects of life. It is when I started acknowledging that I don't know anything about this, when I started really taking interest in how this works, and then exploring the underlying concepts; this journey became all the more enjoyable. And while I am still not earning lots in $, I am earning way better engagement, and I know the $ will follow.
You are grasping. Start to look at steem as well.
sir steem price is down these days 😢
"Do you fart loud ?"Hahahaha
Sorry, it's not the ultimate thing I will keep from your post but I had to thank you for this laugh also ^_^
And thanks for this post that is precisely what I needed to read, it reminds me to never underestimate the Universe and to not overthink the way it will gift you for the cheerfulness and the good vibes, it can comes from anywhere and from nowhere ;-)
Have a wonderful evening @surpassinggoogle ,Terry
I have a new post. You know i wont forget your account. I did judge for a #steemgig you participated in.
