When will steemit be better than YouTube and Facebook together
I think the day could come where steemit replaces all the big players in the social media market and nobody can do anything against it (not even Google, etc.)
This huge change could come faster then we all think. Just think about this situation:
The most famous youtubers begin to see the potential of steemit. Their "customers" do not longer have to pay for consuming the videos by being forced to watch annoying advertisments. No, they do not even have to pay for this service, instead they are getting paid. I mean this is a win, win, win situation. Who loses? So these youtubers could decide to put just some short videos on youtube, where they explain, that in future their content will only be available on steemit. As there are more and more youtubers doing this, it would only take a little amount of month until every YouTube user prefers using d tube. And what could Google/YouTube do to prevent that. Nothing, it would not be profitable for them to change their systems.
But why didn't this happen yet?
There are a few technical problems at steemit, which make it unusable for the most people.
But I belive if steemit would just patch this 3 problems, everything could change very fast:
#3 - Profile picture
At the moment there is no way to upload a profile picture to steemit.
You have to search one in the internet and copy the URL. But this really by far too difficult for the wide mass.
#2 - Password
It is absolutely necessarily to give users the possibiliy of choosing their own password, which they are able to remember. And even worse is that there are a lot of random keys to note down. The most users in the internet have problems with one simple password. In my oppinion the password concept of steemit is too complex for 99% of the people.
# 1 - Registration
Nobody (except a small amount of blockchain fans) will ever get to know steemit, when it take a few weeks to get an account. In the times of the fast internet everybody has forgotten about steemit until they get access to their account. I cannot understand why steemit is not able to manage this.
It's just a small amount of technical problems to solve, to make steemit the biggest thing of the whole internet. I think when the steemit team is able to fix this they wouldn't even be required to put a single penny into marketing to make steemit go viral.
Great advice to steemit! I agree that these problems are really in the way of their massive potential!
