SteemFest2 Talks featuring Steemit CEO Ned Scott [Video]
Hello Steemians,
Today we are sharing two videos from SteemFest2 featuring the CEO of Steemit, @ned.
The first video is his keynote in which he discusses:
- how Steem is ahead of the competition
- the many great apps built on Steem like Utopian.io and d.tube
- the growth of the platform
- the Steemit Team
- Smart Media Tokens
Ned’s SteemFest2 Keynote
The second video is Ned’s fireside chat with the journalist @andrewmcmillen (Andrew McMillen), author of the amazing article featured in Wired Magazine titled The Social Network Doling Out Millions in Ephemeral Money.
They talk about:
- how Ned first got involved in cryptocurrencies
- what elements of the technology drew him in
- his thoughts on bitcoin
- the religious elements around cryptocurrencies
- what motivated the creation of Steem and steemit.com
- the importance of encouraging dissenting opinions and challenging one’s own beliefs
- potential use cases for Smart Media Tokens
Great to have those videos extracted from whole stream :) Now we need to make them popular :)
Steemians, please repeat after me:
More upvotes on YouTube == better visibility :)
Nice post! What will happening, if someone resteem your post?
Great point @noisy. Thanks!
Those type of videos not popular on YouTube. Better make Pranks, kid's channel, some cool letsplay or something similar to new PewDiePie videos - fast paced edititng and humor.
LET'S MAKE STEEMIT GREAT and SEXY
What does @ned think about flaging? Interesting topic now on steemit
Does Facebook Connect help steemit @ned? How?
that is really great
Keep on the good work....follow&vote me. pls:)
Pls am just new here, I need a mentor
Can we get a response from Team Steemit regarding their stance on potentially changing the linear rewards curve to something more effective (hybrid between linear and logarithmic?) as well as modifying the curation ratio and/or allowing curation percentage to be selected by users?
The general consensus of the community seems to be that the current situation is less than ideal with regards to rewards, including issues with self-voting, vote-bots, vote-selling, delegation, etc. Of course some feel there is not much issue, but could you please address this?
Many of us feel this is much more important than SMTs, communities, apps, etc. because they are fundamental issues that affect us on a daily basis as early adopters and firm believers in Steemit's potential. Hard fork 19 was a long time ago and it would be nice to get a report of Team Steemit's perspective on its successfulness.
Some of us are a bit concerned that there is a lack of "ordinary" perspective on Team Steemit, since it is mainly developers focusing on technology. Do you have regular dialogue with top witnesses and those who are moreso pure "users?" (using Steemit as content creators/ curators many hours per day.) It would be cool if there was a convenient forum for this.
Anyway, I have to say props on the improved communication as of late. These more frequent @steemitblog and @steemitdev updates are surely heartening. Much gratitude for your constant hard work and development!!!
There is quite a bit of discussion on these topics in various forums, especially surrounding #roadmap2018. I suspect Steemit will make their priorities clear when they release their roadmap.
Cool, Thanks! Starting the Fireside chat atm.
Thanks for putting these out! I hope more are to come!
Also, I would enjoy them from some of the other presenters, .....From the content Creators/ Steemians please. If possible!
Okay, cool! No amazing new SPECIFIC bits of information in the interview, but this is my first full @ned interview to watch. So, it was good.
And again, I hope Steemit Inc has ....or Roeland has the ability to share some additional presentations in the upcoming days, weeks and (if it has to take so long) months!
....something more than teasers, but that can tease me to plan on attending Steemfest 2018 in Austin, TX!
We do have more videos in the pipeline featuring more talks by Steemit Team members. Thanks for the feedback.
Community Liaison, Steemit
Cool! I appreciate the heads up! Thx
It is exciting to see @ned so excited about all that is going on. We all know he has a vested interest in seeing this blockchain get absolutely huge. Personally, I am super bullish on steem and look forward to a great 2018. We should cross 1 million people with some of the newer apps that are just emerging.
This blockchain is going to be huge.
Nice talk!
Ned needs to start delegating his SP in quantities of 5k to community engagers like I've been doing. Delegating more than that (e.g. 500K) is just too damn much for an individual.
That makes a ton of sense. Instead of supporting one, spread it around to the many. The multiplication factor of 100 people with 5K versus 1 with 500K is incredible. 100 people will be upvoting all over the place....they would have 1000 votes at 100% power....
That is how things will grow.
Try to guess what I just sent you ... :)
Thank you very much @fulltimegeek.
You just make my job with the minnows that much easier since you doubled my voting power. I resolved in a post to try to "adopt" a couple of them and get them to 1000 SP as quickly as possible by giving their daily post 100% upvotes. Once to 1000 SP, they are to turn around and help other sub 1000 minnows.
Thanks again and know I will be spreading the votes around.
That is so cool!
Doing all I can to lift as many people up on this platform as I can.
This place will excel the more people who are on here getting payback for their efforts. It takes time but with consistent effort plus us all rallying around each other, we can get it done.
Sounds Texan "get it done!"
You are right, it doesn't happen quickly, but working together it will be successful. I keep telling my sister we need to start Posting. But seems all we do is comment and learn!
Commenting is a great way to get your feet wet. However, you need to start posting...that is how you can develop a following and get people to know you.
Either way, getting involved is the most important thing. And it appears you are doing that.
That’s a great mission!
I like that idea... send me some @ned 😂😂😂
Shieeeeettttt ... me tooo ... fuq.
We’ll take 100k each... thanks @ned 🤣
That's amazing @fulltimegeek. Thank you for being so altruistic and having a long term view of what will help Steemit as a collective become more successful. I completely agree that smaller delegations being spread out is more helpful than a few people receiving hundreds of thousands. After all, there are thousands of incredible individuals here that add a lot of value to the platform in their own unique way. What has excited me most about Steemit in the time I've been here is the ability to spread support around in a direct and convenient manner. I hope someday I'll be in the position to do as you are. Cheers!
Also, why the hell doesn't @steemitblog have an avatar? ... smh
I agree. @ned and @steemit could both do this. Maybe @steemit less, since they need it for use more frequently.
@fulltimegeek if I can get in line for delegation consideration. The majority of my participation is working on greeting new users and also monitoring, reporting and flagging clear cases of Spam and Scams. I am still very new, and I hope you will keep me in mind for later if my work is not sufficient yet to garner your support.
Thx
Nice.
Nice x2
I've looked through your history and decided to also delegate 5k SP to you. Congrats. But, do try to up-vote more often b/c I see that you're voting power is full via SteemNow. It takes 2.4 hours to recharge after a 100% vote. So, please try to vote at least 10x a day.
WOW!!!! No way! I just upvoted you $0.32!!
You just blew my mind! Thank you!
Please check back often and provide any feedback that you can! I do want to use this responsibly, as you would have me to! 10X THX :-D
I'm glad to see you delegating more and spreading out the curation incentives in newcomers! Will be really good for the platform, thanks!
I just wish I would've done it sooner ....
Its never too late. :)
In case you have heard of @ocd, we are currently creating a bot that will support all previously nominated authors of original content while removing potential abusers from the list. It's a non-profit bot where the delegatees receive 100% of the curation rewards in case you'd be interested to take a look at it once its up.
Congrats @public-eye
Should help your curation work a lot!!
Nice one, welcome to team @fulltimegeek. :)
I'm game for some delegation too.
Oh, do ya now???? What chu' got to offer homie? I see that you have voted for a total of a whopping 10 different people in the past week. I wouldn't really consider that engaging.
Doin the best with a full-time job.
More of my interactions are with those in The Challenges @revelationquotes
@fulltimegeek If you are looking to delegate to community-builders, you may find this one worthwhile: https://steemit.com/@steemstem
Ned joven con muchos conocimientos. Energía positiva. Sigue así, sigue creciendo . Nosotros esta
we are growing :)
6 minutes into the first video, pretty uplifting speech from@ned
Hey @steemitblog thank you for the update and information I think when dtube and utopia will run on full length it will turn the seemit growth and it will get Rockettes after the launch of Smart Media Tokens and I am waiting for this to grasp the opportunity.
Best wishes to @ned
