What is Steemit?

Steemit is a social network that is similar to the major social networks you use today!

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Reddit
  • LinkedIn
  • And Youtube features coming with SteemQ

You can do things like post blogs, and share quick thoughts, collab with other professionals over projects, and even share photos!

The main difference however between Steemit, and all of these other sites is one major thing..

Steemit pays you!

Steemit is the only site out of any of these that pays you directly through the communities "upvotes".

Now depending on how much voting power or "Steem Power" someone has on the site the more their upvote is worth.

So let's say someone who has 1000 Steem Power has a vote worth $1 (when it's voted at 100%) they are allowed 10 of those upvotes per day, and then their voting power starts going down..

As you can see mine here.

Now right now my vote at this rate is only worth about 15 cents when normally it is over 50 cents!

But there is a way to be able to vote more on the site and not burn through your voting power so fast, which is using the voting percentage (once over 500SP subject to change) like shown here.

Now once you have this feature unlocked you can determine how much a post is worth to you or even comments, and it makes your voting power last a lot longer too.

You can check your voting power on sites like:
https://steemstats.com/
https://busy.org/(your username)

Conclusion

Now that you know how Steemit works you will notice we have other things that are similar to other sites like tags (limit 5), and a separate chat (steemit.chat), and even profile pics and bios!

So if you want to know more just sign up, and if you have a question just ask.. The community is very helpful, and comments are rewarded as well!

Thanks for checking out my post, and if I missed anything or you have a question for me comment below.

Disclaimer: This is not investment advice, and is in no way a full detailed explanation of Steemit. This is basically a beginners guide for someone who may have no idea what Bitcoin is or even how the blockchain works. If you would like more information about Steemit you can read the White Paper on https://steem.io/ for a full break down.

Post - Vote - Earn :D

Ok, nice try but the main question anyone has once we explain Steem is: "Where does the money come from?". How would you explain?

Steemit pays you!

So the answer is easy the people who buy Steem Power...

I had to describe this to my Aunt last night. I told her it's really the investors who are fueling it right now. So as long as investors believe the market cap will go higher, it will thrive. In a couple of years more fuel than that may be required such as advertising (optional or otherwise) and possibly something like Etsy within Steem which people are already working on I believe.

Yeah and just like Bitcoin.. It is just a platform, and is only worth how much someone is willing to pay to use it.

If they really wanna join in quick and has some friends on steemit, then hop onto steemconnect (15 steem), anonsteem (10) or account.steem.vc (6) to bypass those waiting periods for approval. One of my friends waited up to almost a week. Then used steemconnect to fast track.

My brother waited almost a week. I didn't know this was an option. Thanks!

I preach Steem to Everyone! One person at a time :) Great Post @stealthtrader

nice username, missiontothemoon ;)

Thanks @cybercodetwins
Bitcoin,Steem, and Silver to the MOON my friend...:)

Simple is that Steemit gives you money what you wanted do without an issue.

I wish I had over 500SP

I am new in this community. My steem power is very less. And very less people upvote my posts even if i write original quality posts by researching and working hard. :(

How can i earn more SP? Please support me guys.

Post blog posts and then you will see your earning is going upwards.
