RE: 2000 Follower Special AMA , Steem Dollar Giveaway and Upvote Party!!
OK - cynical post here - excuse me!
Im seeing a lot of 'x amount of Followers for me!' posts recently, with a hearty amount of back slapping, high fiving & whooping thru the Steem blockchain.
Nothing wrong with this, its an achievement of sort, but I think people are forgetting that followers does not necessarily mean views. I will be more impressed with the post that gathers 1000 views or 1000 comments than the poster with 1000 followers! I have no idea how many of these are knocking around Steemit, but im guessing its very low.
Remember, its very easy to gain followers, particularly once you hit a certain critical mass of rep, or have a certain amount of Steem Power. It is less easy to get views, and meaningful engagement. I will watch with interest to see how many views this post gets in the next few days, and will compare it with some of the other 'x FollowerS - woohoo' posts I have seen, and run some analysis to try to draw out correlation with views. I think it might be interesting!
Taking nothing away from your acheivements here on Steemit @calaber24p - you've managed to create a lot of value for people and kudos for now making a living from blogging!
Hey stoka I totally hear you and many of my followers probably dont vote so you are 100% right. Its an arbitrary number, I just really wanted to celebrate and give back to many who actually read. I was thinking about putting this post under a random tag, but I figured it would be better for everyone if we have a better reach of the people out there. I have been lucky and whales have helped me out greatly. If it werent for them I wouldnt be here. I am not nearly as big as them, but one day I would like to pass it on and help other people out. This is why I upvote almost all of the comments on my posts. I appreciate all comments even those with criticism because I think it is healthy and provides for better discussion. I appreciate your response, thanks :)

You are not the norm. You take comments and criticism in stride. Bravo. More people need to have that attitude. After all, this is life-changing stuff we are doing in Steemit. We all want the same things,,,,,,money, power and happiness :). Well, not so much the power.
