Blockchain Vs Hashgraph Vs Tangle: Epic Tech Battles of History
Let's face it... we all know that Blockchain was one of the greatest inventions since the Internet, and that's something that let's us glimpse at a better future.
Blockchain allows banks and other intermediaries to fade into obscurity, and it facilitates the peer-to-peer economy through the used of a decentralized system operated under cryptographic security as well... but Blockchain isn't alone anymore.
There are other technologies many consider superior popping up, technologies like Tangle and Hashgraph.
Throughout this post I'm going to let you guys know about Hashgraph and Tangle, technologies people talk about less.
Understanding Hashgraph Technology:
![Uploading file..._j9wpxl162]()Hashgraph is a technology that allows one to benefit from many advantages. Some claim it is even better than Blockchain, as it supposedly has:
- Over 250 Thousand Transactions per Second
- Built In Fairness: No User Can Manipulate Transaction Order;
- Efficiency: No block becomes stale with time;
- No Proof-of-Work;
Having said that, the technology is still not as worked upon as blockchain, but the question remains... if they keep on upgrading this tech, working upon it and perfecting it, will it render blockchain obsolete?
If you'd like to read the any of the documents below (The Whitepaper, the How It Works Guide, the System Overview, and more...) access this link and scroll down.
But this doesn't end here... there's another technology to look to, and this one is a bit more discussed here in Steemit since it is backing IOTA and people have taken an interest on it.
I'm talking about Tangle, of course, and I'll discuss it in the next section.
Tangle: Next Generation Blockless Technology
IOTA uses the Tangle, a technology that aims to make everything a service and offers a platform with no fees, enabling micro and nano transactions.
One of the main things is that consensus ins't decoupled here, and is an intrinsic part of the system.
The difference on relations can be best seen in the image provide below:

Fortunately, there is a lot of information on the web about Tangle already, so you can easilly study the concept.
For Hashgraph the info isn't as rich, but the whitepaper and documents I shared in the earlier section are a great start.
As far as Tangle is concerned, you can read its whitepaper here.
Now, let us approach the final question...
Which One is The Best? Here's the Mother of All Questions
This is probably what is on everyone's mind right now.
As all things technological, it is extremelly hard to grasp which is going to be the best. I think that they will be competing for a long time.
The truth is that Blockchain had a lot of attention and work and Tangle plus Hashgraph still didn't get a lot of attention from developers.
For now, blockchain is safe, but things get harder when Tangle and Hashgraph improve, which is something I would be interested in seeing.
I want to see more projects in Tangle and Hashgraph, and I can see these two being like twin siblings on an opposite side of blockchain, since by my limited understanding they are very similar.
If, on the end and after lots of projects built with all of them, one of them proves to be far superior to the others, then great.
I'm not loyal to obsolete technology, so when that time comes I'll have no problem in adopting the new trend.
For now, I'll stick with using blockchain while investing in the other two.
Cheers!

'WHAT WE HAVE HERE...'
Famous line from the prison/chain gang movie Cool Hand Luke. The rest of the line goes like this "What we have here is Failure to Communicate" because Luke was having a hard time adjusting to life on the chain gang and kept trying to escape! :D
What the decentralized monetary tools (blockchain, hashgraph, tangle) all do is Extend and Enhance Communications! Blockchain is like a wire that allows direct comms... the other two are like a Super-Conductor and then whatever ultimately reigns supreme will be like the Tesla Wireless Power Transmission ;)
Exciting times we live in, Be Ready for ANYTHING!
@spiritualmax you literally blow my mind with sharing for us "newbies." Grateful for your patients and to place simple explanations for teaching us what is going on between these new technologies.
I am in the process of getting the family (have a 10 year young) into connecting what blockchain is and now shifting gears to Hashgraph and Tangled to that expanding list. Its hard to digest some of this, as I am still running "analog" programming inside my human being.
Your "work" here is greatly appreciated and informing US of the constant changes for ways to enhanced humanity to be more transparent is pure awesomeness! Love that your this rock star on @steemit for @originalworks too!
Wow man,
Thanks a lot for the very kind words. I appreciate them and feel grateful that you feel that way.
The best thing you can do to your loved ones is to enrich them with your knowledge while learning the lessons their own unique view on things can bring.
Once again, thank you for passing by.
Namasté!
I have ideo how to face blockchain
...walk straight up, look it in the eye and say:
BLOCKCHAIN, YOU'RE MY BITCH!!!
Use it like you stole it, to your contentment!
This is my opinion, if block chain goes mainstream there needs to be a way for everyone to store it. I think if a cryptocurrency had most users store only a small portion of the block chain while legacy nodes ( such as miners and delegates ) on the network keep the full copy, then everyone even those with a cheap smartphone will be able to participate without having to rely on something like an online wallet.
I think this is more important for mainstream adoption than what kind of directed graph is used.
At the end of the day which of these graphs will be used depends on how much speed can be milked from it without sacrificing security.
They kinda already exist. It called Lightweight node https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Lightweight_node
A very insightful post!
I see you're new, welcome to Steemit. I hope you can find everything you're looking for here and if you ever need any help you know where to find me.
Cheers
When I first heard of Hashgraph, I liked the technical side or using gossip to facilitate more efficient voting. However, it is not open source. I do not know much about tangle.
Ultimately the market will choose the winner, and it will likely be a spinoff of a decentralized ledger. However there are a lot of issues with blockchain efficiency that these competitors are trying to solve.
I wonder if the market will care about the open source nature. Maybe we just want something that works.
Take Steemit for example, while the database is decentralized, this platform is very must run off a central bank of servers (unless I am missing something). --3D
Yes 3D.
Steemit is from Steemit, Inc.
Yeah the market will choose.
I prefer open ledger, open source, decentralized solutions, but what we prefer is irrelevant.
People will vote with their adoption and wallets.
I am waiting for LN to come. It can do billions tps while taking up less than 1mb of space. If the LN can pull it off, blockchains tech will be able to show it's the true king.
Care to explain Sames?
Sure. What should i explain?
Start by telling me what means LN
LN is an aberration of the lightning network . The lightning network can process millions to billions transactions per second. The more nodes using lightning network the more transactions can be used kinda like iota. However one lightning node can in theory process billions tps Here how it works:
https://99bitcoins.com/what-is-the-bitcoin-lightning-network-a-beginners-explanation/
Ok thanks, this is what I didn't know.
Will check the link @sames! Cheers
So the LN is kinda like iota with the fact more nodes= more transaction per second. But 2 LN node can do billion tps themselves. They also can earn from the fees of transaction thus giving more incentives to run a full node.
Key catch is it is voluntary. While it is not "vaporware" anymore. It is on beta mainet!!!! The thing that it is not user friendly (also buggy but it bugyninsh is almost done )
hence why more development is making it user friendly.
Their is also an explorer for the LN: https://explorer.acinq.co/#/
So you can see all activity.
a good investment tactic, I believe that you do the right thing when you conduct diversification.
thanks, I need to get to know more with two other "brothers and sisters"
This is something definitely useful to keep under one's eyes...
Further study is required.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hey mate
It wasn't on mine, but it is now. Like the old Betamax vs Video, back in the day. Thanks for another informative article.
Cheers
:D
You got an up vote because this is how I thought of it too! Or Blue Ray vs HD. Awesome!!
Thank you :)
Glad to see you around again Anjkara.
Glad to be of use.
Cheers
Glad to be roaming around the place
Thanks :D
Beta vs VHS, I love that analogy because I witnessed that "battle" first hand, crazy what has transpired with all this rapid change!
haha, it's amazing. Life before mobile phones, satnavs and internet!!! At the time, I remember a teckie friend arguing that Beta was the only sensible option. Thankfully, I'd already gone for VHS (that name had escaped me -- age, lol) :D
I'm learning :::) Thanks for sharing !
No problem man!
If you need anything, you know where to find me.
Cheers!
this will boost up the productivity of all :)
thanks for sharing
Thank you for coming my friend.
