Users can now find this feature in the beta version of the WhatsApp Android application and test its dynamics. The operation is simple, if we receive a link that WhatsApp detects irregular, it will be marked with a red tag that says "suspicious link" and a message that mentions that the link contains irregular characters, which may suggest being a site that it is not.

For example, confusing links that play with popular website letters can be created to visually mislead the user and direct them to a misleading page. The WhatsApp system detects this type of irregularity and creates an alert notification.

Of course, it's up to the user to decide whether to open it or not, but WhatsApp has already made two attempts to persuade you to be careful about the content you've received. This feature is part of the new measures WhatsApp is implementing to combat spam, fraud and false news.

At the moment, only visible to Android users, however, will soon be extended to other platforms.
