Whether Or Not You're Getting Paid.
Whether or not we get paid that much for posting, we have a blockchain-based social media network here where something as simple as saying 'Hello' can earn you 50 cents (or more! a lot more!). That's a big opportunity to a lot of people. When you combine this opportunity with the cryptocurrency markets, that 50 cents could become 20 dollars or more if you play your cards right. A mate of mine likens cryptocurrency trading to gambling or horse-racing for example. You could place 20 dollars down on a horse and it ends up coming last, resulting in a loss of your 20 dollars. However, you could place 20 dollars down on the winning horse and receive a load of profits. Sell high, buy for low, sell for high, buy for low. If you remember the game 'Runescape' this will be right up your alley.
Please note though, the crypto-currency markets are like a casino. People buy into it with their own real world currencies and either win profit or lose. An absolutely amazing thing about Steemit is that we don't actually need to buy into these markets with our actual money - Words and information can be valuable to others, and so this is the foundation of where our Steemit currency comes from that allows us to do so. This is bringing more and more people into the market who can invest in others projects as well, giving us all a better chance in the long run.

Bloody oath, that's what I mean. It's incredible we got in early as well because that Steem power that we're given for free is bound to go up in value as well. Very happy with all of it.

I joined here because I love the idea of a secure, peer-to-peer social network that respects our privacy and avoids censorship. I just came here to share thoughts, ideas, information and stories.
When I logged on, I was surprised to discover how money-focused Steem is. I'm a complete newb here, but I honestly wonder if the ability to earn money is a distraction from what's truly revolutionary about Steem.
Yea, I think that will sort out eventually though. Money definitely gets people rowdy, but once they settle down into steemit they'll stop caring so much about that stuff and do some honest blogging/writing. At the moment I think some people are just frantically throwing up whatever they've got. The excitement of such a platform just blows their minds, and mine too honestly. I'm settling down to this though. I hardly sign onto facebook anymore and enjoy just sitting on Steemit and reading the more in depth thoughts that people chuck down about stuff. It's also wicked to be able to help others with the upvote as well - can give a cent to some person on the other side of the world instantly and keep their day going. Very cool feeling.
Yeah, I hope so. Feels a little too flooded with content-marketing-style articles designed to be popular and click-baity at the moment. Then again, some of the articles I've read have been great, and my vote is my voice. Will be interesting to watch it pan out, thanks for the thoughts.
