@randowhale | The GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY. | Should you use him? | How to use him for maximum profits.
So we all seen posts receiving these comments from @randowhale.
Today I will be telling you the Good the Bad and the Ugly of using @randowhale.
@randowhale is an account set up by a user that also wants to make money just like us. So in reality he wants to provide a service where both parties benefit. Thus, he is constantly working on his service to make it better for us steemians and for himself. Why provide a bad service, right?
@randowhale can upvote your post with a vote between 1% and 5%. This seems like a small amount but with 637,700.976 SP it really ain't no joke. A 5% upvote could be worth well over $5.
So the good thing about @randowhale is that if he upvotes your post for the fee of 2SBD you might walk of a richer steemian.
This service is great for newer users that spend hours on hours creating content but are not yet recognized by the community. It's a decent way to get some payouts for their efforts.
Not that we know we can get an upvote from him we are all eager to pay the 2SBD and get our awesome whale vote. The simple bad thing here is that if you get an upvote of 1% you basically lost money. The other thing to consider is that @randowhale is still a type of curator just like any other user so even if he gives you an awesome 5% vote, a small portion of the payout gained will still go to him.
Voting power is something to take into consideration. Less Voting Power = Less Upvote Reward. @randowhale knows this too, he is a smart whale after all! The solution? Let @randowhale rest from time to time. He also got @randowhale a sidekick; @randowhale1 helps out whenever the voting power of @randowhale runs a bit low.
This is not all bad though, the odds are in your favor. From what I have seen and witnessed I think it is safe to say that even with the price of SBD and Voting Power being taken into consideration any vote above 2% is a win, this is basically a 75% win ratio!.
Just like everything in life there is a right way and a wrong way of doing things. NEVER and I mean NEVER use @randowhale early on you post. Here are my reasons:
Manual curators who check for posts to upvote normally look for posts that are still pretty new and with low payout. @liberosist and @curie are examples of these curators that might skip over your post completely if you already have a few dollars on it. If those curators skip your post you might be losing out on potentially hundreds of dollars. That is if your post any good and not just a spammy post.
Have you seen how the potential payout of your post decreases over time until it reaches payout? (a post about that can be found HERE) So why use @randowhale early in your post if the profits will just trickle down and then eventually result in you making a loss of your investment. Use @randowhale at the right time and you will benefit more from this amazing service.
So in short, use that @randowhale vote on day 6 and nothing later than 6½ days after post creation. This is the window where you will have maximum profits for your @randowhale vote.
Once more bad thing to address is abusers of this system. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! STOP IT! Don't use @randowhale upvotes just for anything and everything upvoting your comment that had no significant value to it. Use @randowhale with respect. Upvote the posts you know deserve it, the ones where you slaved away for hours. Not the one that took you 1 minute to throw together.
How to use @randowhale
• Copy the link of your post
• Go to your WALLET navigate to Steem Dollars and select transfer from the dropdown menu
• Input @randowhale as the recipient (NOT @randomwhale or @randowhale1)
• Enter 2 as the amount
•Paste your link as the MEMO
There you have it the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY of @randowhale. Should you use him? For sure! He will always improve and work on his service to make it better for us. So far with HF19 and everything else going on he is still doing a great job and offers a good service to this community.
Thank you @randowhale!
The @randowhale picture/gif are not my own and were created by @anritco. All credit goes to him and his incredible art skills!
Lately it hasn't made as much sense for me to use @randowhale. the potential benefit of it isn't good enough unless you have a really high paying post and even then it is a crap shoot right now in my opinion. It is a cool thing and I have came out ahead with it but too many people know about it. I wish there would be some other competing services that would do a similar type thing.
@brianphobos The size of the payout on the post doesn't really matter that much after HF19 right? The vote is worth the same if the post has high or low payout. At one point where he had his voting power set between 1 and 3% I also didn't use it. Recently with more people delegating SP to him and with @randowhale1 as support. I Think it really is still beneficial. Go look at their Voting power and the percentages. It makes sense to me to use his service.
But from my understanding it will switch between @randowhale1 and @randowhale so you don't really know where it will come from. I thought the size of the payout still mattered but maybe it really doesn't at this point. I just know the last couple of times I have used it the reward wasn't good enough to justify it in my mind. Too many people know about it and it is too big of a gamble it seems most of the time. I think it is cool though. Other people can use it. I might test it again in the future on a post though.
I think I will do a test of 10 Votes and see how it plays out. Will update this post then. @randowhale has been working hard on making it fair. When you look at both accounts and their respective voting power on steemvoter.com you can see the amounts you get for the percentage of votes are still pretty good. Let me test it and see how it goes. =)
Great post. However, I believe its 2 Steem not 2 SBD. I have used it several times and that is what I have paid. Also, I can see the rationale behind not using it early on it a posts life, however, if you use it straight away, the author (you) gain most of the profit from the curation rewards. After 30 mins, the curator keeps all of the curation rewards, so surely there is an argument for doing it immediately after creation? Not sure on the Maths on this one!
I believe you can use both STEEM or SBD.
Doing it right after you post might give you that little boost, but have you seen how the payouts have been decreasing over time? 7 days is a long time to let that vote decrease to amounts that aren't really profitable anymore.
Also, manual curators who really believes in good content will overlook your post if you already have a @randowhale vote on it. So you are losing the chance to be upvoted by them. Especially by @curie. in the long run would you rather get $ or a potential $40 and upwards? This is only if your post is really good though.
Good point. I'll bear that in mind if I use the service in the future!
Most welcome! Try it out and see how it works for you!
Ohhh kool, now that's really good info, and it's been a learning curve with you my friend! thanks a bunch ! Aloha Al
Always a pleasure helping out. Trying to get the new guys some extra help here and there is what I like doing! Thanks!
Good of you bud! aloha Al
@scrooger, timing is key! thank you for this post
Most welcome mate! Always a pleasure helping out!
I used two times and got profit from it but i didn't know that its should be good to use on last day so lost is less because i used it on 1 day and my post value was 7.45 $ but on 7 day its value was 3.65$ so i will keep this thing in my mind next time. Its great post who don't know how to use rendowhale
Glad the timing issue could help you. Golden rule: after 6 days but not before 6 and a half. that 12 hour window is pretty good.
thanks scrooger. Upvoted and resteemed. Any help for us minnows is always appreciated!
Thanks man! Always appreciate the resteem!
Agree.. already try it once. Completely not great.. too expensive and lose.. only work on the trending steem price..
Yes, guess you need to take Steem Dollars into consideration. It's quite low now so it's a good time to use him. I know it's not for everyone though.
Thanks for suggestion.. it will be useful too..
Thanks for another great post, you've been so helpful. I'v been thinking to myself the past couple days, "Who is this randowhale dude that just says he's upvoting you in comments? Seems kind of arrogant." Know I know. However, there's still so much I don't understand about upvoting. What I know is, don't vote on something older than seven days, and vote about eleven times a day to keep steem power above 80%... Also, I'm not sure but I think, the more votes something has, the less I'll get by voting on it? ...I want to make money but I also want to be genuine. I don't want to vote on something simply for monetary reasons. If I like it I want to give it an upvote, if I don't, I don't. Like this post has 94 votes right now, I like it so I'm upvoting it (you're welcome for my penny, don't even have enough steem to "put in my two cents yet" LOL). -What I just upvoted you and your total went down a penny! ? Why? Sorry, I have so much to learn, and the more I ramble, the more I confuse myself...
And now you know all about @randowhale and how to use him =)
Keep that voting power above 80% for maximum rewards. Yes that the golden rule if you want to make some good money for curation rewards. If you vote on a post early on you will make more curation rewards, if it eventually gets more votes. Vote too late and you will not make that much.
Your penny is much appreciated, and your penny will eventually turn into 2 cents. Just give it time =) Resteeming also helps out a lot!
Hehe, the price of a post fluctates as the market price does. There are a few reasons why a post goes up or down. Don't worry though, after your vote you did not make my payout less. You just refreshed the payout amount. No worries. Thanks for the vote! Appreciate it!
Learn little by little. You already have most of the basics down! Well done mate!
I've read that 27 is the optimal number of upvotes to give in one day.
Excellent, Very Very Nice post I'm starter and Very useful for me thanks.
You are most welcome! =)
Thank you for such a detailed explanation. This is for many people, it would be useful to use it properly. I also use @randowhale, but now I've learned how to do it with maximum effect.
Aweseme, then my job is done here =P
