So uhhh, what is Steemit exactly?
So, you've finally signed up and gotten accepted for Steemit. You've probably read a couple stories and thought to yourself: "Did I just wait 7 days to read a bunch of random news stories?!" Well yes and no. On Steemit you can rate and comment on any story any other user makes, however you can make your own stories as well. And this is where the whole appeal of Steemit lies.
Now if you were to write a story on Steemit, if it get's upvoted enough you'll be paid in a cryptocurrency called Steemit (Or other variations like Steem Dollars and Steem power). Right now 1 Steem Dollar is worth about, well 1 USD. So now you must be thinking "My god! I'm going to be rich! I'M RIIICCHHHH!". Well before you start diving into your gold coin pool Scrooge McDuck style consider this: You usually aren't going to make a lot of money off your first couple of Steemit articles. Heck, even after you make a couple you still won't make much, if anything at all. You'll be pretty lucky to make 10 dollars or so on a single article.
Okay okay, I apologize for dashing away from your hopes on becoming a Steem Millionaire. But hey you might just get lucky and win the super popularity lottery. What's the super popularity lottery? Well, it's not an official thing, just a term I've coined from lurking around on Steemit, and the super popular lottery is basically just making one of those posts that make 100, 200 or even 500+ dollars.
Well, all of this is sort of irrelevant unless you know how to write a good article! So here are a couple basic tips I'll give you before letting you explore the wonderful land of Steemit.
Tip #1: Have a good idea
Having an original and good idea is crucial to making a successful Steemit article. What count's as an original article? Well, find out for yourself! If you have an idea, look up titles related to that article and see if there are already articles like your idea. Now you don't have to be completely original to do well, but it helps. Instead of thinking of a whole new idea you could also just take a new perspective on a idea that's different than other articles out there!
Tip #2: Have a good image for your article.
Having a good image for your article is key to getting people to read your article and by extension getting people to rate your article. I would suggest making your own image in photoshop or something like it. Now, of course, you could go the totally clickbait route with your article titles and images, but nobody will like you if you do that.
Well that's all the tips I have for you people new to Steemit, I wish you luck and win that popularity lottery!
