Computer peripherals are hardware that has always stimulated the imagination of manufacturers. Innovation in this regard, however, had different effects. We present a set of keyboards that can be treated more in the category of archives.

  1. Celluon Epic - laser keyboard

The device uses a laser to display the keyboard on the desk top. Built-in sensors interpret which keys are selected. This is a very successful idea, but only from the marketing side. Users pay attention to the low precision of the device. Some keys do not work while others are activated repeatedly. The biggest problem, however, is the feeling of tapping on the counter. Celluon Epic is a typical gadget that we play once and then we forget about it.

  1. Silicone Keyboard

A nightmare gadget that was a scary success. The silicone keyboard could be bought in every supermarket. There are still a few brands that keep it on offer. The equipment was to check everywhere there was a high probability of dirt. The keyboard can be washed or scrubbed, even using detergents. The equipment can also be folded down and pushed into the backpack. The first doubts arouse moderately successful styling. Much less handling issues. The keyboard offers a low and strangely springy button stroke. Fast writing is virtually impossible, and work becomes a real pain.

  1. GameCube ASCII Keyboard

Keyboard for the popular Nintendo console. Actually it's a combination of keyboard and gamepad. The same keys are not the most comfortable by the bizarre inserts on the sides. So the use of the gamepad with grotesquely spread arms. To be more interesting, the keyboard was only useful in one game - Phantasy Star Online: Episode 1 & 2.

  1. Keyboard with Atari 400

Proof that successful design is not only a successful design. The keyboard used at the Atari 400 was one of the nicest and most impractical keyboards in history. All thanks to membrane construction. The minimal push of the button and the smooth texture of the entire panel were the real drawbacks of the users. The problem was so severe that users massively modified the keyboard, using at least part of the 800 model. 2.

  1. Keyboard from Commodore PET 2001

Another diaphragm keypad in the set. However, in this case the keys have been separated. Too bad it was not done right. Setting the buttons in rows was a weak idea. The dimensions of the tragedy complemented the multicolored look presenting dozens of additional features.

  1. Keyboard with Timex Sinclair 2068

A worthy competitor for the keyboard from Commodore PET 2001, this proved to be the one used in Timex Sinclair 2068. The vast majority of the information typed on the keys was not accidental - some of them at one time even six functions. Interestingly the producer forgot to add the Backspace button.

  1. Keyboard with IBM PCjr

The total opposite of the two previous keyboards. The manufacturer did not decide to apply any prints to the surface of the keys. Symbols were presented directly above the buttons. Low print resolution had a negative impact on legibility. It was one of the first wireless keyboards on the market - at least in theory. However, the fact is that the batteries used required constant power supply. Wireless nature was only about communication with the computer.

  1. BigKeys LX Keyboard

The idea of producing a keyboard with big keys is not the worst. Limiting to the basic function keys can also be forgiven. However, alphabetical ordering and positioning of keys in rows is a gross exaggeration. Strange directional keys are only an add-on.

  1. iGrip Ergonomic from AlphaGrip

The only real gaming keyboard. The keys are arranged in random places. According to the assurances of the manufacturer, thanks to unusual construction it is possible to write at a speed of over 50 words per minute. Equipment in the early 90's is still on sale. The last innovation applied is the expansion of the optical trackball construction.
