Why it's frustrating being a new user on SteemIT, but it's still awesome!
Hello my fellow Steemians!
I am new to SteemIT and i screwed up my verification the first time, so here it is! here i am.
Here goes nothin...
Why Is SteemIT frustrating to me?
Firstly, i want to let out a virtual scream, AHHH!!
It's hard for us minnows out here man
okay now i have my composure
SteemIT is frustrating to me because it's so hard to think of good content, and then when you do have something good it most likely will get no love. It's difficult to be seen in this sea of whales and dolphins when you are only just a mere minnow :-(
I mean let's face it, people are catching on to SteemIT i've seen @sykochica mention a few times how there is a big influx of new users coming to this platform. And i would say a good portion of those people are strictly here because they heard about the possible cash they might be able to rake in.
I even came across a user who strictly posts porn.......every post is NSFW, lol. I'm not sure if this is completely allowed, but it just goes to show you what people are trying to do, they are just looking for the moolah. And i won't lie, i am too. I think we all are here (at least to some to degree) to make money from our content. But some of us actually appreciate the art in creating rich content, so it's kind of a slap in the face to have to compete with people who are just here for the money.
I haven't used HTML or any kind of markup (or markdown) language in years, and it seems in order to have really good looking formatted content i have to remember these lil' codes that i once forgotten. I guess that is not such a bad thing, i guess it's just frustrating to have to format every post and then still possibly get no love on the post. I guess this does separate the real bloggers and creators of pure content from the people who are just here for the moolah.
I think it will take some time for anyone to figure out their niche, but it's still frustrating! I see some Steemians have their niche going and i am struggling to find my place and what exactly i will blog about. Do i blog my music? my thoughts on life? do i blog everything i think of and hope people can relate? I think for any new user on here it's going to be frustrating getting passed the stage of being a minnow and finally finding that niche that works for you. It's frustrating but also fun figuring out what people like to read from me.
I'm a Husband a Father and i am also myself, and although i've only been on SteemIT for a couple of days i am finding it hard to find the time to post. It takes so long for me to think of something worthwhile to post, and then once i think of it i have to format it, and then i have to proof read it. My first post as my introduction literally took me all day to post it, and i still made mistakes! And i had to go back in and edit them, lol. I am hoping the more that the more i post, the easier it will become. As with anything, practice makes perfect!
Yeah i know, its 2017 and im supposed to be this computer guy and i've never even blogged anything before. What kind of geek am i?...
So i'm here now on this platform trying to understand this whole blogging thing and how to write them cohesively. I will say it's not easy! and its equally as frustrating, but i'm always up for a challenge. And when there is a challenge in front of me i usually destroy it!
I love SteemIT, and what we have here. It's a beautiful social media platform with so much to offer to it's users now and to it's future users. But i do have some frustrations as a new user here, which i'm sure a lot of us can relate to, trying to be noticed among a sea of people. And since i am part of this new influx it's making it that much more difficult to get noticed. But i know consistency plays the biggest role in anyone's success in life, be it on SteemIT or anywhere else. So i will remain consistent, and continue to post good content that hopefully some people find informative. I also I want to take a moment to thank the creators of SteemIT because this truly is an amazing and innovative platform that i am happy to be a part of. And please if there are any Whales or Dolphins reading this, some advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Until next time folks, Ron Donson signing off.

Love this-'I am a husband and a father, AND I AM MYSELF'.
A fellow minnow here. I got frustrated at first also but well, it is what it is and everyone needs to start somewhere. It helped that I found Steemit groups on Facebook where users who have been around long enough are very willing to give out tips and extend their support. I feel you about making what you feel as quality content but goes unnoticed, and I agree that consistency is the key. Say for every quality post you catch one or two dolphin or whale attention, this will accumulate over time. Anyways welcome, welcome fellow minnow! =^_^=
Hey @dreamiely thank you so much for your response understanding. I am going to take look into those facebook groups since i am on facebook all the time anyway haha. Thank you fellow minnow for your support!
How do you eat an elephant? One piece at a time. I'm new here as well and I can certainly understand your frustration. My goal is to write quality content, as often as I can and try to rank up my steampower. Check out these two links, they should assist you with formatting your post and such. I'm sure a Whale of Dolphin will come along and offer some additional feedback.

thanks @wthomas for your response i am glad im not the only one feeling this way lol. I will check out these links as well man, thank you!
Months back a few of us made some templates for newbies to use. You can just copy/paste into the steemit editor (in markdown mode, not editor mode) and then just fill in the blanks with your content.
We tried to cover a bunch of post types. Here's a post giving some of the more easy to use templates. Let me know how they work for you. :)
Hey thanks @sykochica , but i don't see a link? lol. Where do i find the templates?
Lol, sry.

Hello! I enjoyed reading your post and I can relate to what you say. It's hard to get your content noticed, especially when you submit the post and you see dozens of others being submitted at the same time! Then you sometimes only get a few page views. I too am still unsure what to write about so my previous posts are all very random and not sticking to one subject.
I am feeling hopeful about being here and being positive that over time all of us new people here will build up a following and that our content will get viewed. It's fun and I am enjoying my time here. Hopefully you'll get some followers from this post. Good luck!
@ecentrally thank you so much for your response. I'm glad to see i am not the only one whose feeling a bit discouraged lol. I think you're right though we have to just enjoy the time here and over time things will progress.
Don't give up :) You'll get noticed...
And write about the things that matter to you.
It takes time to gain followers and be noticed... We just need to give it a little time :)
Upvoted, resteemed and followed :)
@jovana thank you for the word! i know with consistency i will get noticed.
Haha welcome back! good post!
haha thank you!
nice article
thank you my friend.
Dude, I agree with everything. It's really hard for minnows to get noticed. I've been hear for nearly a year, and I still haven't found a solid footing. The best advice I got from @lukestokes was to adjust my expectations, and it really helped a lot.
Post because you want to post. You can't force people to like your post, but you can adjust your own expectation. If you expect to get hundreds of dollars for a post you made, then you'll only end up disappointing yourself. The audience will come if you keep at it. Just continue posting awesome content, and you'll eventually be discovered. This is coming from someone who has yet to earn hundreds of dollars here. I used to be frustrated as well, but now I'm just enjoying the ride :D
(Also, this post seems to be doing great! Focus on that man. Think positive)
Damn man this is something i really needed to read this morning. Thank you for the advice and kind words bro. I will keep at it and be super consistent. And i've already surmised that i shouldn't just post non-sense to get $$. I'm going to be making a killer post about an experience i had this memorial day weekend. Thank you so much man.
Good for you! That's great, man! I expect only amazing things from you from here on in, alright? :) Keep your head up and let's reach the pinnacle of this platform together!
Yes man, yes!. Let's do it..i love the camaraderie here. Thanks again man, you always have my support.
And you, mine. If you ever have any questions or need anything, don't hesitate to leave a comment to any of my posts. I make it a point to reply to each and every one, so you're assured that I won't miss whatever you say :)
Same goes for you my friend.
just don't give up
i definitely will not give up @waffle
