Tough to say... though do not see any such convergence. If anything, probably even more coins - though also more tokens with specified functionality within certain communities...

Not so much. Of course, regulation will occur, and it'll be a stumbling process as governments struggle to keep updated on what is in the best interest of all. However, evolution pushes on, what doesn't work will break down, and the improved will emerge. Ultimately, the greatest gains will be made working cooperatively to educate and inform those working within governments rather than taking an antagonistic stance. And there could always be benefits as well, such that scammers are squeezed out of the space and the bar is raised for quality of what comes out. Overall, I'm more on the optimistic side - though not naive enough to think it'll all happen smoothly and ideally...
