Interest in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies plummets in 2018
The global interest in the most famous cryptocurrency, bitcoin, has fallen sharply in recent months to the tune of the very price of the digital currency, which has devalued almost 60% since reaching record highs in the month of December.
Even so, Bitcoin is still on everyone's lips, even the most powerful ones. The member of the Executive Committee of the European Central Bank (ECB) and Chairman of the Payments and Infrastructures Committee of the Bank of International Settlements, Benoit Coeuré, said a few days ago that virtual currencies are a "poor imitation" of money, although he praised the blockchain technology underlying these assets.
