[Steemit-Tip] How to increase your earnings

in #steemit7 years ago

I like to help new Steemians out and give them tips on things I’ve read about and learned here on Steemit. One thing is for sure, there is no short cut to success. Success has to be earned. Getting successful and staying it is hard work. I see newbies complaining about their earnings all the time and they want to make a quick buck. So there is a way to earn SBD fairly ‘quickly’. Well.. Quickly… At least quicker if you follow these guidelines.

First and foremost: Earnings shouldn’t be your priority. You have to invest to get those earnings!

Yes investing, investing your time and getting little rewards in the beginning. You won’t get a lot of money in the first week(s). Some are getting high rewards, even on their introduction post, yet this is a one in a hundred that gets that. I’m here for 2 month’s now and my average earning per post is around $6. I invest a lot of time into this platform and communicating with others and I see my earnings grow slow but steady. Perhaps in the next 2 month’s I make an average of $10. Who knows! But you have to invest and get your Steem Power up as well. So be patient, be consistent in posting and interact with others.

Do follow for follow doesn’t work. Yeah Really, it doesn’t!

The amount of followers you have doesn’t really matter that much. You can have 3000 followers, but if only 100 of them vote on your post then it isn’t a good representation of yourself. So it’s better to just write great content and don’t ask for follows. Then you know your followers are really here for your content! I admit that I did it in the beginning as well. I grew from 0 to 100 in 2 days or so but my upvotes were very low. That’s because those people actually didn’t read my posts. So I stopped doing that shortly after and came to the conclusion to just write and write some more. Now my follower count grows slow but steady like my earnings and I get more upvotes as well.

So don’t beg for follows, don’t beg for up votes and just write your ass off!

Originality is key

It’s always easy to copy work and take credit for it. Other people did it, and made a lot on that post. Well. It’s not quite that simple. I’ve seen some copycats around and copied a text from a whale that made $100+ and after 7 days the copycat had $2. Because you see, the whale had build its reputation, invested a lot of time and effort to get there while the minnow just copied it and did nothing to get it.

So instead be original and create your own content. Write about things you like and are close to heart. Write about things that you enjoy and others might as well. I write about design and helping minnows out here because I like that. Design is my passion and helping others is in my nature. While I know that writing for minnows won’t get any attraction from whales and get me that $5+ upvote, I still do it because I believe in it. I believe in this platform and let it grow.

Last but not least, your upvotes and comments count!

There are 2 kinds of people. First there is the newbie that up votes and comments on everything! Their voting power is drained to 1% and they just keep voting and hoping they get an up vote in return. Then they comment on everything even though they didn’t read the post. They just comment for the sake of commenting.

Then there are the better persons that really read a post and if they like it they upvote it and give a comment that is really meaningful and to the point. You should be as this guy. This guy is gonna make it far here on Steemit!

Why would you comment and up vote things you don’t really like. Be honest with yourself and treat people like you want yourself to be treated. Upvote and comment wisely and you gain followers like that as well.

My tip, just go for long term and do what you love. Invest your time wisely and your earnings will start to come eventually. You will hop form $1 to $3 to $10 to $100! Good luck!

Thank you @rkrijgsman very wise words. I was also a noob when I started out and just followed every single person I saw, up to the point where my feed looked almost like the trending pages only Korean content, which I can't understand, not that there are anything wrong with it, but was missing out on many good articles which I can actually understand.

I noticed very quickly that the amount of followers don't mean jack if your are not getting any views on your articles.

Keep up the great work.

Exactly that. The number doesn't matter at all. It matters if you like the content or not. Steemit is still a place to read and not to gain followers ;)

Awesome post @rlrojgsman... You indeed are trying to help minnows on the platform. It's noble thing on your part. Not only upvoting every other post, is a right way to help a minnow. Content is important. I have been here for a month and I have seen my upside and lows. Some of my posts have done really well whereas rest have not. But yeah you are right I saying that persistent and originality is the key to success. I have tried to post once everyday from the last 4 days and my average earnings on those posts is also somewhere $5. Anyway good going sir..!! ✌️✌️

Thank you very much! Just keep posting on a regular basis and take 2-3 topics you really like and want to write about. I checked your profile and I see you are doing just that! So keep that up! Eventually it will be bigger, like one of your posts that earned almost $100! So it's possible and just keep working towards that goal :D Cheers mate!

Thanks for the advice mate. Will try from my side and all the best to you too... Cheers mate..!!

That's great suggestions. Thanks for sharing. I experienced many Issues in your post. At the end of the date, it's really the quality of your content matters. And don't expect success comes in overnight. I am not there yet but I am very patient now and expect bright future if I continue to do what I do.

Exactly. Success doesn't come overnight. It takes time and work as everything else. My tip to you is also to build your Steem Power. You gain more influence in voting yourself and people like seeing others with high Steem Power. That means you're in it for the long run! Cheers!

Thanks, I will definitely look into that.

Very good advice for beginners. Especially the part about follow for follow. "Organic" growth is always the best approach to building an engaged audience.

You should add @minnowsupport program for minnows. It is a great way to have upvotes wihtin seconds without any investment. I suggest you to use it if not already using.

Yeah I use that one as well. I gave that as a tip in one of my previous blogs along with other bots that upvote! But thanks for sharing it in the comments so that new users can see it here as well :)

This post has received a 0.74 % upvote from @booster thanks to: @rkrijgsman.

Indeed an insightful post for all new steemit commers. I am also faily new not even a month old. Will surely try to implememt the golden rules you have mentioned :)

I wish you all the best here on Steemit! You won't get rich fast, it might even take several months to gain enough Steem Power to be influential. But never give up!

This post has received a 24.00 % upvote from @lovejuice thanks to: @rkrijgsman. They have officially sprayed their dank amps all over your post rewards. GOOD TIMES! Vote for Aggroed!

Hey @rkrijgsman,
Your post is an interesting read and helpful.
When I first joined Steemit, I dropped a couple of posts about one of my passions and sat back, not quite understanding what the platform was all about.
Since then I've performed a bit of a mental reboot and thought more about the platform and people on it rather than any rewards I may or may not get.
I agree that we should look at Steemit as a long term project rather than a get rich quick scheme.
My most recent post tries to explain my view somewhat

Thanks for the tips. As a newbie, this guide helps a lot. I've followed you because I appreciate your post :) Could you write a post on raising steam power?
