Bloggers are Here to Stay

Hello Steemit.

As per usual, this is a longer post but I felt it was important enough to make sure I told enough details to get the point across. Thanks for reading!

I normally make a habit of avoiding trolls and spam anywhere I find them, but this particular one had me concerned. It had me concerned because there was a number of innocent members of this community believing what he was saying.

One particular user by the name of "ivylifestyle" has been creating between 1 - 5 posts every hour for the past week or so. Every time I click on the new tab, there is a good chance I will see another one of his posts.

Now, I got started on this site a little over a month ago and I have been loving my time here so far. This community is incredibly supportive, positive, and creative. I have never seen anything like this before and I know Steemit will succeed.

I love writing. I write about personal experiences and I analyze non-political world events. I wrote for my school newspaper and have dabbled in film writing. Needless to say, writing is one of my passions and I will never give it up.

Let me first say that I don't believe this character, "ivylifestyle", is a threat to any of the serious bloggers on this site.

If you have ever seen his posts or his blog page before, you will have seen something like this.

He posts nothing but gibberish in tags that are meaningless to his content, or lack thereof.

I first noticed him when I saw a post entitled "5 Real Reasons WHY Quality BLOGGERS Will Quit Steemit!" He listed reasons such as "spam" and "better blogging alternatives", without actually going into how it affects us.

After seeing how often he had posted, I commented on the aforementioned post.

He responded with "Another TROLLL^^^" and downvoted my comment. Harmless, seeing as he has no power left.

I then thought about it and decided to check my most recent article. Sure enough, at the bottom, I saw this.

He downvotes when you call him out and floods the feed with garbage, yet somehow has managed to grow to 50 followers.

He has compared Steemit to numerous games, including World of Warcraft, League of Legends, and Clash of Clans

I'm making this post because everyone should be aware that there are those who want to see this community burn to the ground. Do not be fooled; no one is going anywhere. Through the lows and highs of this economical roller-coaster, we will always be writing.

I don't want anyone thinking it's acceptable to attack these people either, though. Just ignore them. I should have done nothing and let it go when I first saw his posts, but nothing can change the past. We need to move forward and continue to make this community stronger.

Yeah he's an interesting case... This whole thing started when I flagged his posts that he spammed on other people's comment sections (I wrote a little dissertation on the matter a few days ago), Nevertheless as I've said many-a-time I'm really glad people like you guys have all banded together, so we can stand strong against people like this and protect the integrity of our community!

I think they need to change the rep system and either increase the power of the flag or to make the threshold from (-5) to (10 or 15), as It takes way too long for us (at least me as a dolphin) to permanently halt this sort of behavior from these types of individuals.

We should put spam posts into a separate trash newsfeed for Steemit. When a person's reputation is negative five (-5) or a low enough number, we could have their posts go to a trash feed or tag or folder or section for Steemit, automatically. We could limit them as well for low REP users too.
.
Maybe, Steemit should only allow people like @ivylifestyle to post every ten hours or something. Like if your reputation is higher, then maybe you should be allowed to POST, WRITE, COMMENT, LIKE, UPVOTE, RESTEEM, AND EVERYTHING ELSE TOO OR WHATEVER ON STEEMIT more often and stuff..... and if your REP POWER declines, then your posting power should decline as well or maybe we should put low REP user POSTS into a low REP users feed or trash feed or spam folder or whatever we may want to call it and stuff......
.
Maybe we can do both the trash feed and limit people when their reputation goes too far down. I encourage people to talk more about this. The developers of Steemit could look at our debates and threads and conversations on all of that. #steemit #steem

I agree, there's too much trash in the feed from these people. Something needs to be done
