The main thing that I have read is making great posts and curating great content. Probably the best shot as a Minnow other than making posts that people really value is the voting on posts part. The key is not to vote on a post that is newer than 30 minutes and also to make sure it's a post that is really valuable and maybe also if you feel it is valuable to the reading community.
