Good bots for beginners on Steemit

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

OK bots generally suck. They clog your comments, trick you into thinking they’re human, but there are some great bots on Steemit too. Here are a couple that are very good if you’re just starting out:

@Randowhale
You send it 2 SBD, it sends a large upvote of a random amount to your post. I found this bot very useful when a post of mine became hidden from a downvote. If all you have are wimpy minnow votes, use randowhale.

@Minnowsupport
This bot offers upvote services (like Randowhale but fixed rate). You can also rent SP. So if you want to quickly increase your influence, this is a great way. There is also a market aspect to this bot where people can invest their SP to be used in the SP rental service. Its a useful bot for sure, check it out.

@Gentlebot
Gentlebot picks replies to comments on posts and upvotes. Its votes at first were worth over $40. I got a vote recently from it for $1. It will only ever comment on a user once. They don’t mention criteria exactly, but the comment it voted for of mine was a reply to my own previous comment that had been upvoted by a friend. It’ll only happen once, but keep replying to comments and you’ll get an up vote.

@Goodbot
Goodbot comments on anyone using the introduceyourself tag more than twice. Its meant to shame abusers. The purpose of the tag is to make sure new people get a bunch of upvotes by being listed in such a popular and exclusive place. This bot won’t help you directly, but will help you the beginner stand out and get the attention you need.

@bottymcbotface and @welcomebot
These bots put a smile on your face and say hi when you do your introduction post. Of course me, like a dummy, did my introduction post completely wrong and missed out on these bots. I guess I have “introduceyourself” still in reserve…

There are lots of bots out there. Other great posts I’ve read about good bots, and bots that comment. Seems a controversial topic! But they’re not going away, we’re stuck with bots, maybe its worth exploring how they can be used constructively.

Thanks for any comments- bot or human!

I personally am a big fan of bottymcbotface!

these bots can definitely help if you are a beginner with steem and want to get visible but in the long term I wouldnt invest too much into them if you have 300+ followers- with time people will start reading, comment and upvote if you make solid content - at least that is what steemit tries to be :)
