Maximuscoin.com is advertising cloud mining contracts that I am going to try. All investments are risky, even though they "Guarantee" returns. After some research however, Maximuscoin.com seems to be a reputable business.

Based in the Czech Republic, Maximuscoin is an upstart specializing in cloud mining and customized algorithms for their own mining farms, using the latest in antminerS9 technology Featuring low energy and increasing profits.
Plus they have a team of traders who are Bitcoin masters using your investment to trade BTC. According to the site, they trade on the ups and downs for profit. Whatever that means. I have to research more about trading to get a grasp.
Plans
Their contracts are for 200 days, with two different options. First option is .01 BTC to 10 BTC at a 1% daily return, 200% return at the end of the contract. The second option is for an amount from 10.01 to 1000 BTC With a 1.5% daily return, 300% payout at the end of the contract.
Seem Legit?
They allow for daily withdrawal of profits to keep their business transparent to the investors. They also support a whole slew of security programs for your account.
As a curiosity, I sent them a FB message with a couple basic questions, and got a response immediately. So their support is absolutely awesome.
They have a goal of being a long term business, according to their site, they'll operate for many many years. Hopefully it's true!

2. Does anybody else have experience in contracts like this? What should one expect?

Not to burst your bubble, but the moment the guarantee you 1% return per day, it is a HYIP which is only a different name for a Ponzi scheme. There is now way how they can guarantee that income.
What will happen is that you will sign-up, send them the money. Immediately you will receive income, which you will extract on a daily basis, because only if you got the money in your wallet, it is yours. Before you reach the breakeven point, something will go wrong. Or you account got hacked or they just delete your email address and remove your password. In that manner, you cannot log on or reset the password. Whatever money is still in the system, you have lost.
Believe me; I have tried this before. Don't fall for a 1% income. Just google HYIP and you will find a lot of these type of companies with extremely good offerings.
If you want to look at more legit mining companies, research Genesis-Mining, Hashflare and BTCPOP. BTCPOP provide a savings account where they guarantee a 5% return per YEAR. This is more legit.
This is only my opinion. If you are still excited about this company, don't let me put you off.
I'm going to try it and watch closely, but with a small amount. Say $100 or so, or whatever SBD I get. There's a couple really good reviews about them, with high rankings but we will see. I am going to look into the others you mentioned though, sounds more secure.
Remember the old saying: If it sounds to good to be true it usually is! Dont get burned ! Put your 100 dollars into steem. Or where krabgrat sugested! ♨♨♨

It's definitely a scam. Those kind of profits are not realistic, even in crypto. You want a coin that gives some serious legitimate profits? Take your Bitcoin to BitTrex and buy Diamond DMD coin with it.
