I don't remember most of my primary education and writing has always seemed like some kind of mystical ritual dealing with spells. It's like writers are warlocks and witches, leaving me a mundane person looking into the spellers and grammarians magical rituals without a clue what's really going on! I'm left writing by ear, imagine that picture! I saved this page and will follow you, maybe you will teach me some of your magic.
If you follow the simple rules here, you'll do just fine. I see these errors every day. Yes, there are all sorts of magical incantations in grammar, intricate rules that most writers don't need to worry about. A lot of it is having a good ear and writing what feels correct...most of the time, you'll be right.... but these errors I've listed are so rampant that they have (unfortunately) entered the mainstream.
And certainly, if you ever have a grammar question, I'm happy to discuss and teach!

I have the worst grammar problems possible.
Eh, at least your wife didn't write an entire blog posting about grammar then email you saying "You need to bookmark this." ;)
