How to Write a Post That's More Likely to Be Clicked, Read & Then Upvoted on Steemit

     The most valuable commodity on Earth is time. It's one thing that is in limited supply and is the foundation for the barter economy. With all these posts being submitted to SteemIt each day with a rate of approximately 2 posts every 1 second, curators find themselves facing a weighty task when selecting contents worth clicking, reading and subsequently upvoting. With experience, identifying a good post from a junk post is easier, curators can tell from one glance if any post is worth their time or not. 

Here Are 4 Things Curators Check Before Opening Any Post: (I'm not claiming they have to be in this particular order)

• 1.Your thumbnail picture:

          This comes as no surprise because a good picture  (preferably related to the topic discussed in the article) catches people's attention and with it, your post can be easily spotted amongst the overflowing amount of new posts on the website. Just as a post with a decent thumbnail photo captivates people's eyes, a post lacking a thumbnail picture may appear dull and unworthy of any time and enery spent on reading it. So, do pick a nice picture to get your post noticed.

• 2.The post's title:

        Yes, the title has a huge significance in the overall appearance of a blog post, it can either attract a reader--if  carefully worded. Or repulse them--if poorly written. Generally, a title is capitalized according to the APA style like so: 

All initial letters in all the words within the title should be capitalized except for articles, coordinating conjunctions or words less than four letters (unless they come first.) Grammar lesson over.

• 3.Your reputation score:

          Some might think that reputation  score is pointless, but I believe that it's very crucial to have a reputation slightly above 25, the score given to you when you first sign in to SteemIt. Few curators will bother to read a post with a reputation of just 25 thinking it would be just another junk post from another new user. 

A reputation below that number may indicate that the person has committed immoral acts and/or has been flagged repeatedly.

Your reputation grows according to the times your profile is visited, how many upvotes you get, and how many people see your posts and comments. To raise it, you must write well thought-out comments on others's posts and of course valuable articles of your own.

             

• 4.Your pending payout:

          This is something the majority of us minnows cannot do and that is upvoting your post first to give it the first 30 cents or so it needs. Just because that is better for the first appearance of a post than having $0 on it. That also incentivizes curators to upvote the article knowing that it's more likely to get upvotes from others and thus more rewards for themselves.

With all that in mind, the last steps to execute is to proofread your post because a post with lots mistakes is no bueno.
