New Year’s Blog: Why You Should Hike?
Hello there, Steemians! I’m backkkk. It’s been a while. 😂✌️
It’s the time of the year again when we think about our new year’s resolution. Maybe it’s time to stop overthinking and just start to grab a hike!
Here are few reasons why:
HIKING WILL MAKE YOU A BETTER HUMAN
Being out there in them rocks awakens something inside ourselves, all you have to do is open your eyes and soul to them and they will change you - for the better.
Experiences become a part of our identity. We are not our possessions, but we are the accumulation of everything we’ve seen, the things we’ve done, and the places we’ve been. Buying the latest iphone isn’t going to change who you are; taking a break from work to hike a mountain from start to finish most certainly will. ☺️
(hiking and the feelings associated with it are really calming to my soul)
HIKING IS AN EXCELLENT WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT
Just getting out there to walk is an excellent first step in controlling your weight especially now that New Year’s resolutions like “to lose weight” or “get in shape” are often big and general, making them hard to attain. Hahahaha. The more specific you can be like “to reach the summit”, the easier it will be to reach that goal. That way, you always have something attainable to focus on that doesn’t seem far off.
(so call up your “accountability buddy”, jot down your milestones, and get started with that resolution right now. Remember, sometimes sharing with too many people can hinder your accomplishments. 😂 Thanks, Mariel 😂)
HIKING IMPROVES YOUR HEALTH AND STABILITY
Hiking is an enjoyable yet effective way to get your heart pumping. Most generic exercises like running and squatting always move you in the similar directions. Hiking forces you to move in every way, as you climb over huge roots and twigs, or sidestep slippery rocks. Thus, you don’t just work your leg muscles when hiking, you’ll strengthen the musles that help prevent common injuries as well.
(It will definitely improve your balancing skills too! 😂)
HIKING WILL MAKE THE BOND STRONGER
In our busy world, maintaining connections between family members & friends can be strained by jobs and the ever-encroaching digital world. When I hike with my bestfriend, our time is our own, our conversations flow naturally, we’re both curious and asks questions, playing with sticks and rocks and whatever we can find, scrambling around — it’s time without distractions.
(Our first hike in Mt. Pamitinan, Rizal 😊)
HIKING LIFTS YOUR MOOD
Enjoying nature’s view can help to reduce stress. You will be able to notice the small things and you will be excited about them! It’s actually about finding the joy of discovery no matter where you are.
(So take a break from urbanization and venture out to relax and renew in mother nature.)
Our experiences are a bigger part of ourselves than our material goods. You can think that part of your identity is connected to those things, but nonetheless they remain separate from you. In contrast, your experiences really are part of you. We are the sum total of our experiences. Thus, GRAB A HIKE!!!
