From One Minnow to Another: What I have Learned About Building Your Steemit AudiencesteemCreated with Sketch.

After trying Steemit a year ago, I forgot about it quickly. Well, I shouldn't have. Why? Because using the Steemit platform is the antidote to other social media conglomerates which primarily benefit big money and big business, not the consumer. Plus, Steemit is a symbol of sovereignty in a world characterized by control.

What Else is Great About Steemit?

As I outlined in this post, there are some inherently powerful reasons to join and grow in Steemit. They include:

"Number One: This one is a no-brainer - to help each other to make money from social media!

Number Two: To get easy access to information that's hard to find on other platforms.

Number Three: Join a community which celebrates decentralization and sovereignty.

Number Four: Learn about and stay up-to-date regarding the revolution called cryptocurrencies.

Number Five: Become a respected blogger by simply expressing yourself (and even get paid for it!)".

How Do You Grow Your Audience?

First and foremost, be friendly. I know that there is much more incentive to well-behave on Steemit because being a dick isn't gonna win you any support, but tapping into your authentic self and expressing it to the Steemit community is certainly going to help your cause. Plus, it's a smart move simply because it makes us feel good. And manners cost us nothing anyway ;)

Another important aspect to provide quality content. Be short and sharp when you can and expand on it when you need to as well. If you're going to share news-related information, analyse and explain it. Even contextualize it into the bigger picture.

And ask questions too - be open to hearing feedback and even knowing what others think regarding a particular issue.

Moreover, during the last week I've noticed that there are many popular hosts who have their own niche. What's yours? I'm a little handicapped in this area as I like to cover all things relating to both personal and community sovereignty, but if there's something that you're good at, or you have a hobby that you think others would like, then by all means - share it!

And one last recommendation - engage with people. Comment on other posts. Build your community and contribute to already established ones. There's some super friendly and cool motherfuckers on this platform, so say hello and let them know if you have genuine interest in their content.

Final Thoughts

Increasing your influence on Steemit takes a mixture of a little time and a little Steem power. It's like a snowball effect - the more you put in, the more you will influence not just the reach of your own posts, but those that you follow too. As the community grows, including its reward pool, there is going to be a lot more people earning some pretty good money by simply participating on a platform that is designed to be unrestricted and uncensored, as well as subject to the wishes of the consumers.

As I stated in a previous post:

And the beautiful thing is there is plenty of time to build your networks now, before it really gets busy. Think of it like YouTube in the early days. Like those days, if you begin building your bandwidth now, you'll be well ahead of the game. So I know a lot of people get frustrated that their posts aren't making a big impact, but keep the chin up. Just provide quality information that you discover from own research and at the least you'll be doing yourself and others a service, but one day you could even make a tidy profit too.

Thanks for reading, and thanks to those who upvote, comment and follow.

I follow some YT channels and the frustrations they have incurred with censors dictating what is appropriate content is what brought them and others, myself included, to this space. I wouldn't say I'm worldly by any stretch, but I understand their is "freedom" in this forum. That's refreshing...for now.

Make valuable content. Engage with people. It's simple at the end of the day.

I'm a minnow too, but I plan on sticking around for a while regardless of earnings just to see where all this goes - will it really get as big as youtube? Cryptos in general are exciting and this is better than facebook.

Jack of All Trades works for a lot of things, but then it hinders as well.
