RE: Steemit: A Platform About Content, SP Delegation or Daily Diaries? | Part 1

in #steemit3 months ago (edited)

Hey @the-gorilla,

While this is not 100% my decision, I can see your point, although I'm not sure what the logistics of a merger would be like after we've already started growing that hive account.

Why don't you and @httr4life merge with WOX Sports? Stronger together

As a man of 'many hats,' my skills are a little all over the place. I have degrees in both Sociology and Visual Communications, which basically just means I'm good at working with people and content. Over the last 5-10 years, I've been more focused on sports marketing and content management across multiple platforms. I also own a production company that powers a few podcasts—nothing major, but we're growing.

What's your area of expertise? I've read your introduction, but it didn't tell me much.

I definitely was not trying to be harsh toward him. He's clearly highly intelligent and brings a lot to the chain. That may be one of those times when what I typed wasn't taken the way I meant it (lost in translation).

Take it easy on @o1eh. He's trying to do too much on Steemit and the bombs landing on his homeland make his internet intermittent so he has to prioritise his activities. Sometimes replies get missed - or in my case, postponed until I have time to think about them properly (better a late, long thoughtful reply than a brief, pointless "thanks").

With an uptick in the 'search engine war' fast approaching, the time to get the site caught up in SEO terms is now. Think about all the hits this site loses over this issue right here. #ProspectiveUsers

I'll also hijack this reply and mention @o1eh and @remlaps - I can't remember who wrote about Google discoverability (probably one in the post and the other in the replies) but this has gone significantly downhill since Communities were created - I.e., the loss in SEO value of the first hashtag being in the URL. You'll find that the majority of Steemit's "Google discoverable" content isn't in a community and has a relevant 1st hashtag. If we want to be better at this (which I know we do), we need non-community content (perhaps even allowing this non-community content to be promoted within multiple communities). Something to think about. Aligned with /promoted.

Good to formally get acquainted with you, looking forward to future discussions.

A long time to reply...

I don't see any reason why we can't merge into your community. I can bring my account and the @sportscurator01 account and then continue together. I just don't see enough of a user base to warrant 2 communities doing the same thing (there's enough of that on Steemit already).

I'll need to finish the existing "Last Man Standing" contest which is coming to a close (and with my dev. work, I'm not as active as I once was).

So sorry for not replying sooner. If this is still a go, whenever you're ready to make this happen, just join the community, and we'll add you as an admin and the curator account as a mod.

I guess if all is good still the next move after that would be to announce the merger to everyone else. I've spoken with @httr4life, and we're both looking forward to this.
