I lack the capability to adequately communicate to you how grateful I am for this site.

My Introduction to steemit couldn't have come at a better time. I have been writing for fun on my free time, sharing info about our government. Facebook is the wrong platform for things like well articulated discussions about things left unsaid, or omitted entirely from any official narrative.

When i first accepted the invitation, I was not expecting anything close to this. TRUTH be told, I didn't know of anything existing in this world that encourages honest participation. I could never be told what steemit is, I am glad that I came see for myself. Since I have not been back to Facebook. Steemit opened my eyes to what social media is or was supposed to be.

I have since then posted 110 things, attained 150 followers, and I now follow almost 400. I did like many at first and tried relying on others to boost my work, I even paid for it a time or two. Then it hit me..

An Epiphany, of sorts..

I love what I do here. I find myself privaleged to be growing with this growing community of mature and evolving people. I would love to get paid, who wouldn't? But I happily do this and share for free. I shouldn't expect anything here either. My best creations flow freely when I am doing it for fun. It feels good. It never feels as good doing anything with money as the sole motivation. I trust this network to reward me on my merit. I don't feel myself to be in competition with any of you. We can all get where we're going, together.

Funny how I invited everyone on my Facebook to come here. When they finally give it a shot they're going to be upset when they remember I told them long ago!!

Utter 🐄 Enjoyment

I was able to relax and enjoy the site much more since then. I find myself more engaged, and with a better understanding of the platform, votes, etc. I find I am more proud when I can get .50 for a post all by myself, than any amount with someone who was paid to help me. I want my writing skill level or the quality of my content be judged on it's own merit.

I will appreciate my results whatever they may be. If I earned them honestly. I can't look at a paid for vote the same. The voluntary vote of confidence means more only when voluntary. Incentives for someone to help only serves to work against my growth.

I also learned that there is nothing wrong with upvoting my own work, or someone else's. If I see a message needing to be heard, free resteem! Why? Because that is what I would do for my brothers and sisters. Why would I seek to rush my journey here, when I enjoy it so? I wish to treat others the same. A measure of respect, writer's respect, from one Homo Sapien, to another.

I have really enjoyed the past week and a half. I am on this site more than any other. I am grateful for all of you wonderful people sharing the platform with me! Looking forward to sharing it all with you!
