in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Dear community,
After a first trip to Slovakia, I was very thirsty, so I decided to drink something very fresh!
Then a friend told me to take a drink named Kofola
I did not know this drink and I drank !

You do not know this drink ???

The Kofola is among the best known traditional drinks and really appreciated in Slovakia and Czech Republic.

A little background on this drink:

Because Coca Cola and Pepsi-Cola could not cross the borders of countries in Eastern Europe, the politicians of the former Czechoslovakia in the 1950s, sought to develop and manufacture a soft drink, as an alternative to Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola.

Martin Klofanda is spokesman of the company, and he recounts how did this soda:

"In Czechoslovakia, the doctor Blažek, pharmacologist was interested in medicinal herbs, which invented the recipe of Kofola. It was the Communist Party which had requested that be made a drink that can compete with foreign drinks. Dr. Blažek, first met in 1959 of Dr. Knap, who was working in a pharmaceutical factory in Ostrava. Together they developed the basic recipe of Kofola and launched its industrial production. "

The Kofola was marketed for the first time in 1960. During the 70s, he became an emblem against the Coca-Cola "capitalist". After the fall of the communist regime in 1989, Kofola had to compete with foreign drinks because the local market was flooded just by Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola. The Kofola was then removed from the scene for some time. In the late 90s, the situation began to reverse. In 1998 the Kofola brand returned to the Czech market to become a beverage brands like Coca most sold in the Czech Republic.

In my case, I adore the taste is a subtle blend of plants, plant extracts, and fruit containing caffeine.
What is also very nice is that the Kofola has much less sugar than Coca Cola, or Pepsi !!!
The Kofola does not contain phosphoric acid. It is slightly sparkling, may be drunk in large quantities and perfectly quenches thirst.
If your holidays are happening in Slovakia, so do not hesitate to taste this drink lightly sparkling and really quenches thirst !!!
Next time a cake with Kofola !

You like Kofola more than Coca-Cola or Pepsi-Cola? I don´t drink any of these. Kofola used to be a communist immitation of Coca-Cola for us up until 25 years ago, then everybody started to drink "the real stuff", after that slowly but surely the tide was turning again (explained as some kind of nostalgia), what has also become popular in the Czech R. in the last couple of years is some kind of poison-colour raspberry drink I get sick of only to look at...

hello Michal,
in fact I drink coca in france because we don t have Kofola , but really I prefer kofola when I have holidays in BB!!
