GOODBYE DAN! - Thanks for Everything (and YOU'RE STILL THE MAN!)
In case you have not heard yet, @dan is apparently done.
As of now, there are only three things that I know.
- @dan will not be posting.
- @dan will not be voting.
- @dan submitted his resignation to steemit inc. today
Who knows what this will mean for steemit, but we would do well not to panic. Dan is a very talented and busy individual, so he may just be moving on and being busy elsewhere. Either way, he helped make steemit what it is, and has blessed a lot of us in many ways.
Whether or not this will affect the value of STEEM, I can only speculate.
I, for one, will continue as usual.
I just wanted to share this since I have so many followers.

I think this is about the worst sign imaginable.
A lot of future development will be almost exclusively on web development...which is not his cup of tea. What Steemit need right now is a refreshed front-end, communities and some smart marketing...all things that doesn't require Dan.
It is very sad, but not the worst sign imaginable in my opinion.

A founder will only leave if he is pushed out. Clearly dans vision does not bode well with the investors of steemit and or ned. So what is steem now?
I'm sure politics pushed him out indeed but that doesn't mean it's the worst thing imaginable. The founder of bit coin isn't touching the code for 8 years and it's still working.
Who do u think is the most important person driving this?
All developers participating to the open source of steemit.com & developers of 3rd party apps on top of the Steem blockchain.
It may not work out well, but I don't think it should really have anything to do with the long-term success of this platform.
Though @dan was certainly vital in the creation of steemit, now that it exists, there is no reason that it shouldn't be able to exist and succeed without him.
Wish him the best. He helped build this and it has all positively impacted us in some way or we would not be here. DON"T PANIC! Like that one...you know there will be a few who push the panic button. I say hit the "Easy" button and STEEM ON!!!!

This is so disappointing. I just lost of a lot of confidence in the long term success of steemit. I thought Dan was in for the long haul.
A lot of folks are voicing similar concerns. It really wasn't the wisest way to crack the news, was it? And the price sure doesn't appreciate it.
I'll give Ned and Steemit a chance to share what's up. Dan's a busy guy and maybe it was just time to focus on one of his other endeavors.

We may never know the truth. It does seem to smell of some sort of disagreement. But jumping to conclusions is usually far worse than not knowing. I'll wait to form an opinion...
Dan is busy with a couple of projects. I'm not in his inner circle, so couldn't really point out exactly what. But he does come up elsewhere.
I've blown over 20 btc into this thing. I'd bet that amount gladly that this was the result of a quarral. I am also certain that all the people left at steemit are not as valuable as dan himself.

Hopefully @ned can clue us in more, but regardless of anything else, steemit is still revolutionary, it exists, and it has tons of potential!
