Trees
Fig (tin) comes from large shrub trees that can grow as high as 30 feet. Every part of the fig, skin, seeds, and all, can be eaten. But avoid the green part of the fig tree - the sap irritates human skin.
In Georgia, figs can be harvested several times towards the end of the summer, especially in July and August. They are usually sun dried and then can be eaten throughout the year.
Check this: Figs are one of the first plants cultivated by humans. Even before we grow wheat or peas, humans chew sweet, healthy figs
Fig trees have three different sexes and can only be pollinated by a kind of wasp. Male trees (caprifigs) produce wood, unsightly fruit; Female trees need suitable male trees to pollinate before producing fruit (these trees produce fruit with fertile seeds);
Infertile trees do not need pollinators and are fertile, fruit that is not seeded. The fig tree that is usually available in the garden is the third infertile variety.
Thank you so many friends for all the fig trees and fruit for health benefits.
