TJ Kirk Comes to Steem, What Does This Mean?
TJ Kirk is a prominent YouTube personality who makes political commentaries. He has over one million subscribers on YouTube. However, he isn't treated well, and has decided to join Steem.
What does this mean for the platform? For one, he is already praising DTube and Steemit highly on YouTube, which means at least a chunk of his followers will join our platform. This will grow the platform even more, even if his followers only follow him.
One of the things about TJ Kirk that a lot of his fans like about him is he is not afraid to call BS on anything that is BS, and that he also tries to be objective about things. In his video titled "Steemit/DTube vs YouTube" he outlines some of the things that are good and bad about each platform. Even though he really likes the Steem platform, he isn't afraid to call it out. Likewise, even though he hates YouTube, he isn't afraid to say what is good about their platform.
My opinion is that I think this is generally a good thing for Steem. It adds more people to the platform, and also raises a voice that will combat people who do shady things on this website. A key problem that TJ addressed was that there are some people on here with an insane amount of upvote power, which they could leverage for whatever they want. He didn't outright say what he means, but I think he means that some people could do very bad things. I wouldn't be surprised if TJ called people out who have a lot of power who are doing shady things.
Once again, I'm happy that TJ has joined our platform. Welcome TJ!!
