RE: So you want to be a crypto expert? #part 11.0

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Hi Rusty, it looks interesting, but at first glance I am thinking are they really solving an issue, or will the market solve this issue itself. Do we need another DEX?
Does the highly volatile market indicate it’s young nature and will BTC for instance not eventually become more stable. It already shows signs of maturing.
I have a feeling it will.
It seems to focus on solving liquidity problems by holding reserves? I like the concept, but not entirely convinced yet that we need it.
How do they manage the reserves?

There are other ways to provide stable currencies, like BitShares is offering smart coins. Providing wider smart contracts seems interesting, but it also mentions that the trustless exchanges have little liquidity, this is probably also because most people struggle to find their way to them.

I think this will change overtime when people
realise that Cryptocoins were never meant to be on a centralised exchange.

So eventually people will make their way into BitShares/ Nem or waves or any other dex, perhaps kyber.

The other question I have is whether existing decentralised exchanges could not eventually offer similar types of services.

Let me know what your view is, I might be wrong and misunderstand some aspects.
