Can Networks Built On Physically Meeting Be More Valuable and Powerful than ONLY Virtually Meeting

So, I finished reading Scale by Geoffrey West, https://www.amazon.com/Scale-Universal-Innovation-Sustainability-Organisms/dp/1594205582, and I found its many points on allometric scaling based on natural fractal designs to be key insights on P2P networks of blockchains.

In particular, the idea of a P2P blockchain network being fractal in nature, both vritual and physical is fascinating as it relates to that P2P network growing in scale. My assumption is that a P2P blockchain network that is traditionally virtual and physically fractal (i.e. local bitcoin communities and larger, regional bitcoin conventions) would have better exponential growth than a purely virtual play.

So this brings me to Steemit. I see this happening and unfolding in realtime. I see local meetups and local communities of Steemit users meeting and connecting in-person. From this, I see these physical nodes grow better and connect better to virtual nodes. Maybe this idea of virtual and physical fractal networks is just a natural property of a strong network, regardless of it starting only virtually. The idea, is that a Steemit user may be able to progress through the natural payout curve on posts and blogs much faster if a physical network is maintained concurrently with her virtual only Steemit followers and readers. Its hard to compile this data over the blockchain since we really don't know which sets of followers are also physical acquaintances.

This is why Facebook would be tough to dislodge if Steemit continues with a virtual only focus. To me, its pays in the long run to build a network physically first and then virtually second, just like Facebook. It seems Steemit is attempting to do it the other way, which is harder, since going virtual to physical is much harder than going physical to virtual.

Soooo.....please go out and try to meet your local Steemians and connect with them virtually or the other way around. You will progress faster in this blockchain, in my very humble opinon.

Cheers.

I completely agree with this. I believe that Web 3.0 will be largely decentralized. Centralization is capturing the value of our attention and sending that value to Silicon Valley.

With the rise of decentralized social technology I'm hoping that local discovery becomes relevant again. Technology should bring local communities together rather than alienate ourselves from each other.
