RE: Threat to the current curation rewards system

in #steemit7 years ago

I feel the point of steemit is chiefly to support transactions. Fundamentally the creators wanted more traction seen in their articles.

I have written about this above thought in a recent article as well. I feel it is just the human element which is requiring some kind of structure in all of randomness.

If like me, you see the truthful value behind an article is its quality rather than the quantity of money it makes, just avoid putting much logic into whatever comes below the tags line. Steemit in a way has introduced me to a whole new group of artists and content makers - the only way to cherish it is to participate with whomever you like... on stage... i.e. in the comments - like this one :)

You are right for the time being. In the long run there will be enough transactions happening and then its is about them being transactions that is based on truthful value as you call it. Compare it to an advertisement banner, it might be getting 100 clicks but if nobody buys the product there is no value in it.

I would avoid seeing such an advertisement or put in a content blocker (unfollow such authors). To be honest that's all we can do with the power given to us.

If, on the other hand, what you really seek is a design change in steemit it might not happen. There are other equally pressing items which are simply ignored - a better search, customization of trending topics, better than mark down editor etc. Even HF19 was focused purely in showing more content value to newbies. Sadly that's not why all of us are here, but they count the majority wish list.

I am not saying what you suggested is a bad idea. I felt it might not be worth chasing that thought any further.

Yeah don't get me wrong, Steemit is amazing and the team is doing a great job. But you are looking at it from a consumer friendliness perspective and then you are right, this upvote button before you read it is even more convenient than having to open the article. The whole discussion from that perspective is insignificant. However, I look at it from the perspective of being a curator and being able to monetize Steemit. Steemit will need to generate money one day and certain things can influence the actual amount of that. Since that money will be distributed among users its in everyone's interest to address this. Also ask yourself what a curation will be worth if it's unclear how many people actually read the article and ended up upvoting it or not.
