i think you have some good ideas. especially the configurable homepage, this is interesting. personally i think steemit's "quickstart guide" is already pretty good. they just need to improve the UI design so that the site is more engaging for new users, and to invite them to explore it more. right now the sliding menu to the right, is very out of the way. i bet it's super under-utilized, even though there are some useful pages filled with info there.
