Back To "Normal"? - What I Think Happened - 262
I think things are pretty much back to the new normal on the Steem Blockchain. Yes bots and most users are in Voting Power Recovery mode though.
As a reminder I think if you upvote before 15 minutes you are now "donating" to the rewards pool instead of helping out the author of the post.
I think what happened is there was some bad code so if you upvoted immediately before the fork it considered your 100% upvote to be worth 100% of your vote power instead of using up 2% so with one upvote you went to 0% instead of 98%. Unfortunately the full upvotes really only counted for 2% as far as payouts go. I think this is referred to as the "scaling problem".
Update on Unexpected Voting Power Behavior
I think what confused people was that Steemd was giving what the figure was supposed to be until you upvoted. I think a wallet transfer or rewards claim might have given a partial update to the new Vote Power total.
As far as the resource credits problem I'm guessing the bug was they either took into account all your resources you ever used or if you used the blockchain within 5 days of the fork you were using resources when there was none available according to the code so you went way into the negative. Probably the later. It appears that bug is fixed and I think voting and posting is back to normal but it will be interesting to see how the resource credit manna thing goes. Personally I thought the bandwidth feature worked "OK" but I think the resource credits are so Steem can have SMT's Smart media tokens and try and be like EOS.
If I was running things I would probably not try and move towards SMT's but I am not running things.
I'm a little bit surprised Steem is back up to around $1 but I personally expect it to fall some in the next month or two.
I think some of these bugs have brought forth some concerns such as are the developers competent, testing issues, who decides who the witnesses are etc. etc.
As I have previously stated if the price of Steem falls more there could be some challenges for Steem Inc to pay their developer team and hosting fees although they could be making money off of blocktrades and bots.
On a brighter note I think 15 minutes is better than 30 minutes. Hopefully it gets reduced even more at the next fork if there ever is another one.

I think that Steemian who’s at 100% is pretty fortunate. I have a way to still at 71% after not voting for 2 days. The bidbots are not working or they are returning horrible Negative ROI 🤨
I hope the patch tonight works. I have two posts at 5 cents because none of the bidbots paid since HF 20, then when paid today it was pennies not dollars. I lost over 98% of my investment. Fortunately I only used the penny bots to find out what would happen.
But they were my pennies 🧐
Just kidding 😂😆
I will be glad when we get back to normal, but fear this may drag on for a while.
Are you following the 15 minute rule?
People at 100% weren't active right before the fork.
Yes. I changed all my autovotrs also. But to 30 minutes. When Steemauto comes back up I will change them all to 15 minutes. I was very active before the fork came out posting, a lot of comments and upvotes. I think I was in negative RC on day one of HF due to those activities because the HF charged us RC retrospectively for the previous few days.
Did you lease and XP from Blocktrades at 50% off?
No. Even at 50% off I think they are still a "little" bit high.
Wow! Minnowbooster is that much cheaper?
Yep. I think right now even with the discount blocktrades is charging about 19% APR.

@djimirji up!
💡 This post already upvoted before :)
I couldn't post or vote yesterday it appeared on steemd.com that I had negatice RC so I think your premise of negatiuve RC based on usage the previous five days is correct and that has been posted by Steemblog witness as an explanation and the patch 20.03 is to produce resource credit debt forgiveness and return us to zero RC, which of course regenerate every day. So today with the patch HF 20.03 I can post again, but my voting power is still in the 18% mana range (The new term for voting power), which will regenerate on it's own or I can power up new steem purchases or buy/lease steem power and increase my mana, so I am waiting for 3 days and 19 hours to get back to 100%. Your mana power percentage and your resource credits levels can be found on steemd.com.
Have you figured it all out? Steemd is a bit confusing. I think voting mana and % could be different or they could be the same thing.
I will be voting! lol
It this right? If my RC and Mana is recharged to 100%, I can only make 7 comments/day? I got 54 SP active. Not much, but a lot of people got less. So no one will be using Steemit anymore? (p.s. I won't be able to reply today, I'm using my only post allowance it seems):
I think it's probably right. I think you are screwed. :( There might be a fix coming but there might not.

On the bright side I gave you a 50% upvote. lol
Thanks! It was actually only 7 comments a week if I did not upvote, power up etc. Right now suddenly my RC is 100%. I'm going to see what it does posting here + giving you another upvote.
Yeah this is weird. I thought they were going to increase it 10X but it seems more like 100X.
This blockchain is so confusing! lol
I wonder what the optimal amount of 100% upvotes is now/day. If you find out let us know. I have been looking for that but it's not clear. Could be 7, 8 or 10 as far as I know.
You'll have to watch your account. be careful if you get down to 80% in the next 24 hours. Maybe they just reset everyone and increased it by 10X but who knows.
Also FYI when you upvote before 15 minutes you donate to the rewards pool and lose curation.
If you make a post/comment, and I upvote you the first minute, do you get 100% of my vote or does it also go elsewhere?
I always get 75% now. If you upvote the first minute 25% of your vote goes back into the rewards pool.
I think it does help me get more curation but it's not really worth it to upvote myself or anybody else early anymore.

A hot steaming mess of dog poop. I don't know about the other 399 steemit users, but I am not impressed.
Are you shut down right now? Steemd says you are.
I'm confused a bit. Where do you see your RC or MANA or whatever the hell it is? MANA is the name for another coin so that is confusing too. And how much steem power do we need to be able to do actions? To me if it's confusing, and I've been on here for 2 years, I could only imagine what a noob would think!

Mana is a coin I think and I think it's also in a game and it's also in the bible. lol
I'll probably do a post tomorrow but don't expect me to be able to explain everything. lol
I found it a bit confusing at first because I thought maybe steem and decentraland (MANA) joined forces, which would actually be pretty cool, but they are just using the word mana.
So now, noobs have to learn about all the tricks of the trade when it comes to steem, steem power, and steem power, then turn around and learn about mana. Hmmm.... Couldn't steem just have taken a small percentage of transactions to cover their bandwidth costs? Meh.
You're a woman and you might be using women logic. The coders are men and mana probably sounded cool to them. ;) lol
I'm still trying to figure out what is going on but right now noobs are barely able to use the Steem blockchain I think.
Yeah the noobs are getting totally fluxed I bet! Curse my womanly logic! 😂😂😂🤣
You can get your mana percentage level and your amount of RC left on steemd.com. The website Steemworld.com currently lists your RC level also, but not your mana percentage. steemword still shows your VP percentage and the value of your vote. I believe this voting power indicator will soon be relabeled mana.
ok, thanks. I am starting to figure stuff out now.
@stemmitblog post today explains all the issues so far, and they are going to release another patch tonight or today. 😂
