Russia's defense ministry ordered its fighters to fly higher while carrying out missions in the Syrian war zone.
The policy was reportedly taken after one of its Sukhoi Su-25 military aircraft was shot down during a mission over Idlib province, Syria, Saturday (3/2/2018).
As a result of the incident, the Russian air force lost one of its pilots who were killed on the battlefield.
Reported by the Izvestia newspaper, Russia's Defense Ministry ordered for subsequent missions, the pilot had to fly his fighter plane over a height of 16,400 feet (5,000 meters) to keep them safe.
