Minnow University // How To Gain Followers //
Followers
You want them. You need them, but what's the best way to get followers?
In our next series of posts, we will be covering the best ways to gain followers that are INTERESTED in what you have to say.
Meaningful Comments
@isaria put together an absolutely wonderful post on the value of meaningful comments and it's tough to beat what she has to say, but it's important to understand that if you're just starting out, you should not waste hours on a masterpiece of a post. No one knows you yet, and quite frankly no one is going to read your wonderful post no matter how well done the formatting or writing is.
To be successful on Steemit, you need to find your audience first.
So, who is your audience?
- They will be interested in the subjects you're interested in
- They will want to share information with you
- They will end up following you and reading what you have to say
That's great, so how will they find me if I'm not writing?
EASY!
You find them!
Take a look at the image below, and follow the arrows. See the tags? THAT'S how you're going to find your audience.
Click the tags and find the subjects you're interested in. Read some blogs, follow who you like, and INTERACT with that person by leaving a meaningful comment that shows you read the post.
When you make a comment that shows you read and understood the post, you're more likely to get a response AND that person is more likely to read your blog in return. It's a win-win. You've gained knowledge and a follower that is likely going to read your posts and give you that ever sought after upvote and/or resteem!
Not only that, but you're starting to build yourself a network. And THIS is the key to REALLY getting your blog firing on all cylinders!
Minnow University is brought to you by witness @swelker101 with support from @isaria and @kubbyelizabeth to help new Steemit users understand the concepts and basics of Steemit and other STEEM blockchain platforms. We have working relationships with MSP at PALnet and The Writer's Block to help educate minnows on how to grow their accounts without resorting to spam or practices that may stunt their ability to flourish on the platform. I think one ought to have a few good posts up before spending a lot of time commenting. If you don't have some examples of how interesting you can be... and of the topics you will post on... people will look you up, see a blank blog, and not hit follow. But beyond that, I agree here.
I think you need to be yourself. Long / short blogs.. a lot of time. Or not.
I personaly want to look back in a year and be proud on what a I added to the community. Just be honest! <3

U have a point there. Its more important to build followers instead of keep posting. Thanks for sharing!
From my own view i think you should first gather some posts before making comments because if your blog is checked on and there is no good post or write up, the person checking might not know how serious you are and you might end up not getting the follow.

I think this is true on any platform. I also agree on @bex-dk that one should have at least one (or a few more) quality post(s) so that when people see your blog, they will know what to expect from your blog and hopefully get interested enough to follow you,
great post.
This is really helpful for newbies. I know better now, thanks.
